I think it's a pity that Bradd Wilson has chosen to leave Ararat. He has been a regular senior player who is still young and should be challenging himself to play the best he can. The Goon money will still be there in five or ten years, providing the club is still in existence.

Once again, always about the money isnt it, why do people consistently think its always about the money! Maybe he wants a change, maybe he has his reason, who knows. Somehow i dont think he is a gold digger and just after money. Just my opinion. There is a lot, what i mean is most players at tatyoon that play for the fact that they want to play at the club they have always mostly played at. Simple as that

Once again, always about how they just wanna play for Tatyoon because it's such a great club. Maybe he has his reasons, maybe he's a friggin' apprentice who thinks a bit of extra cash would be handy. Tatyoon has successfully enticed players to the club through cash incentives for at least two decades but probably longer. Why do you persist in denying that players imported to the club from outside the immediate farming district are only there due to the magnificent club and that financial motivations have nothing to do with it?
I'm not knocking Bradd or any other player who goes to Tatyoon. Bit of extra cash and the almost certain guarantee that he will play in a grand final at worst and more likely a premiership would motivate most to move clubs. I just think it's sad that when he's moving into his prime football age he leaves the major league to play district league footy that he could wait ten years to play and still be a valued recruit.
Tatyoon have every right to attract players to their club whichever way they feel works best. We all know that without their steady flow of imports the club wouldn't exist as there's not enough blokes in the surrounding area to field one team. It's to Taty's credit that they are so successful at recruiting because I sure as shit wouldn't want to have to travel to some of the MDFL venues.
But, surely Ararat has just as much right to try and retain the players that they groom through their junior ranks with the hope that they will become significant senior players at the club for longer than a season or two.
I know that the response here will be that Tatyoon looks after their players better than Ararat which is why the Rats can't keep them. If Ararat was the only club in town with nobody recruiting off them and no competition for sponsorship and support I'm sure all the players would be looked after more handsomely as well. Free beer costs somebody. Player incentives cost somebody. It's far easier to fund those things when an entire community is supporting the club.

And before I get abused for defending Ararat I'll acknowledge that they pay players as well. And many of them aren't worth spit in a bucket either but because they fill a need they get the coin. It's all crap bitching about money when the fact is that every club dishes it out. Ararat doesn't like Tatyoon paying money but that is because they can't compete financially. Tatyoon doesn't like the implication that they only win because they attract players through their respective wallets but the fact remains they need to bring players to the club to field a side. Taty also doesn't like that Ararat gives them no respect because they are not a major league club yet they go shopping at that very same major league club. Ararat doesn't rate the Taty success because it's only in the minor league but is pretty quick to try and entice guys in who show sufficient talent. The crap just goes round and round, back and forth.

And the Ararat Eagles just wish somebody gave a shit about them apart from themselves.

Good post leather the majority of that is true! I could bet you that the highest payed players in ararat are on alot more that the ones at taty. ararat might consider spreading the money around abit more rather than paying 3 or 4 blokes very large sums of money. But players do get payed to play at taty and it is essential to keep clubs going! In relation to bradd wilson he is only 19 and wants to enjoy his footy on and off the field. As for hitting his peak usually that isnt until you are about 26 so let him have a bit of fun and im sure he will be playing for the rats when he is in his prime. the clubs should be helping each other rather than hindering by ararat holdin players back it makes the player reluctant to return but by letting them go im pretty sure they would be more than happy to return.

Firstly good luck to brad and the boys. And your right about brad he has lots of good footy in front of him and all of ararat footy club hopes to see him back at the club in the near future. It is just a pitty in this day and age that the club can't hold there top kid for four or five years i'm sure if they stayed together they would be winning senior flags and not under 17 won. Take it from an old fella no one remebers under 17 flags for more than a year.

im sure he understands that but ararat arent going to win a flag in the next 3 years. maybe in 5 when those good young kids are 22 or so. so im sure he will be back when they start vying for flags

I can see what you are saying there Magic but if top young kids keep leaving the club and will only return when they are vying for a flag, who is going to do all the hard work to get the club back into a situation where they are up the top?? If everyone had the attitude of 'i will come back when they are winning' clubs wouldn't have teams! Who really knows how long country footy is going to last, seems to be getting worse and worse each year which is a shamefrom when you look back to the days when there was at least 5 games of footy going on in and around ararat.

Magic - why didn't James & King continue coaching in '08? Are they staying at taty?

Time issues is the main reason - Jason is a mechanic that has too work long hours and coaching was taking a toll on his position. King is a farmer and time was his main problem. They will both be staying on in leadership positions. Andrew Healy is likely to continue playing now so the 08 team is looking like being as strong as last year.

I heard James was close to signing at ararat along side Justin McMahon, pretty sure they are a fair chance to sign tonight! With the talk of Matt Jackson thinking of returning it could get cousin jase over the line!

Does it look like Taty & H/M are the only threats in '08?

With H/M picking up a full-forward and Brad Sholl, they look to be stronger than last year. Does anybody know if they have lost/gained any other players?

You would think that they are going to be stronger. In the paper it said they have lost three players but it didnt name names. if they pick some more up from port fairy they would nearly have to be favourites

Hope taty can afford them cos the rumour is that they both have put their hands out for BIG cash!

Well obviously ararat were prepared to throw around the cash. Macca only wanted a bit of money to cover not workin on saturdays. Jamesy is worth every cent and isnt on any more than last year

So is he getting paid as much this year to play as he was last year to play & coach? Do agree that when fit, is one of the better players in the league, and so should be looked after.
