Don't know his name, but he wore No. 2 with long sleeves. Happened right in front of me, real cheap shot. He wants to challenge his 1 week set penalty for some reason. Hopefully he'll get another week or two on top of that.

THEBLOODS85 you seem to have a answer for everything. must love the league. who is ya tip for league best and fairest? who is underated and who is over rated?
actually write for a local rag.......

Lewis Medal B&F.........Murray Habel from Hawkesdale-Macarthur should poll well, although plenty of talent (Sholl, Matthews, Jelbarts, Hetherington) may take votes from him.........an excellent playmaker who stands out across half-back with his great run and skills.

Under-rated - Jahn Knight from Lismore-Derrinallum is a quality player, probably because the Demons are located outside the normal league boundaries we don't see a lot of him.
- Justin McMahon from Tatyoon flies under the radar a bit for mine......plenty of the 'star' players over there get all the kudos, but this bloke is a pretty handy player who can play a variety of different roles......obviously well-rated by his team-mates as was Captain of last year's premiership team.

Over-rated - This is a tough call, and I do admire his talent as a footballer, but I do not know how Neil Kelly won back to back league medals, especially playing for a team that got flogged each week generally......over-rated by the umps I feel!

Yeh love footy, have three boys just starting up playing for the Rams...aged 11, 9 & 8.

My playing days finished a couple of years back, (although got roped in for one reserves game last year)........400 odd games for Glen & G/D pulled me up........now enjoying kids and following the league.:)

Cheers:thumbsu:

Brad Bond was suspended for 2 matches by the MDFL tribunal last night.
Backfired on him big time........should have taken the one week originally handed out!

Funny sidelight to this report as well..............I heard yesterday that the reporting umpire was wanting the charge dropped after he heard Bond was appealing because he wanted to go to the Warrnambool races.

He rang the Caramut President, but was told no way!

Should be shafted!

Umpire was pretty dirty. He spent all day at the races with his mates while they drank, then had to drive to Lake Bolac because this goose wanted to challenge the report.
Calvo's always keen to look after his own players, and standing up for them. Bond got what he deserved.

taty's domination on the league is over, i went and saw them for the first time this year on the weekend, no where as good as previous years, i dont see them beating the weaker sides by big margins anymore, maybe lost the pasion to win big? what you guys think? lookin by the results the league has evened out a lot. should bring in a good year of country footy.

The rest of the competition has dropped off as well.....only significant improvers for mine are Hawkesdale-Macarthur.
Moyston-Willaura maybe a little, while Lismore-Derrinallum have retained nearly all their playing group from 2007 and will finish top three with H/M & Tatyoon.
Tatyoon may have dropped off but they have a couple of players to 'appear' yet and will be there when the whips are cracking.

The final two spots in the five is anyones guess, but I lean towards Caramut and Moy/Willaura........but with no real hope of challenging for the flag.

The comp below the top three is pretty even yes!

.....not sure about losing the passion to win............but when you lose Healey, Milne, Burton, James, Walton, Cameron, De Fegely and Williams from your team it is going to effect your on-field performance big-time.

Their replacements in the weekend's game were Hitchcock, R.Tucker, Welsh, B.Wilson, Ward, Vallance, Ord & Maconachie.

Good replacements, yes.......but I know which group I would choose if I had a choice!

yeah big outs, but compared to last year they would have beatenthat lake bolac by at least 12 to 13 goals, and for teams to get this close on 3 occasions this year is showing signs that they are not taty of old.

This could be of some significance as well.....

Last year Bolac were in front of Tatyoon at 3qtr time.

A few years back when bolac were top 2, and Taty just snuck in for 5th, taty managed to beat bolac.

2006. Bolca goes through undefeated for season. Wind Flag. Margain under 2 goals.

2006. Taty win Gf by huge margain. Home and Away, Taty win by 1 Pt

Big history of always being a competitive game when these two teams meet.

rovers? 4 goals
hawkesdale? 2 goals?

Rovers 5 goals with 6 or 7 potential players missing and rovers have improved on last year. Hwaksdale have recruited very very well over the off-season leaving them nearly flag favourites and taty had the same amount of senior players missing then. And they beat bolac by 60 points. Would of been more but they had 2 lose in the backline. Not going to help win games but it makes the scoreboard seem alot closer than the game was.

not trying to pay them out, just saying teams are seem to be getting closer than what people think they should. every team has injuries but you cant keep saying thats why. because rarely does any team have there full strength team out on the field.

Oh i was agreeing with you mate. Was just saying that usually bolac and taty have a competitive history over the years. The gap has definately closed between Taty and Hawksdale at least. In saying that, Taty know they are yet to hit their straps. Its a revamped side, that will take some time to gel.

your not wrong there mate there are always injuries. Just the games are getting closer due to teams conceding at the first bounce and throwing players behind the ball and we all know how hard it is to score in a conjested forwardline. Where last year teams actually tried to outplay taty on one-on-one footy which obviously didnt work. So now they flood. Which all that does is improve the score line.

I would have to agree lemons with your statement that the competition seems to be closer this year than others. Now some may say the league has dropped off, don't know if i agree, this may only come from a select few from a club that isn't as strong as the previous years. Atleast the league has not dropped enough for players to not want to play in MDFL. The inclusion of sholl and Matthews etc is a sign that this is a great league. Again if the league has dropped off is irrelevant, the games are close and more exciting to watch and play in. I am now very interested to stay awake until half time of the AFL on a Saturday night to see footy scoreboard because it is not as predictable as previous years.
Tatyoon V Hawks Granny for mine but an interesting year ahead which i am happy about.

Nothing to do with the fact that Matthews got work with the coach and that both are taking home huge pay packets??..............but agree that even though it has no doubt dropped a cog, it has evened up and provides closer contests.
