Speaking of the clock and inconsistencies:

• If a bounce is recalled, the clock should reset back to the time prior to the bounce.
• When a player receives a free kick and the ball is somewhere else (eg maybe one the ground a short distance away, or in the hands of a teammate or opposition) the umpire will sometimes blown time off to get it back to them but sometimes not. It shouldn't matter if its going to take 2 seconds or 10 seconds to get back into the receiving players hand, time off should be consistently applied.

Maybe they are trying to hide from us the fact that most journos can barely string an intelligent sentence together, even though I cannot help but feel that particular horse bolted some time ago...

Players being allowed to man the mark within 9m of the goal-line in their forward 50, until the umpire calls them back to the top of the square. That rule's been in place long enough for it to just be an instant 50m penalty.
