Minor things that annoy you about the game

Players would love nothing more than to kick to a ONE ON ONE contest but the modern game rarely allows for that hence why if under pressure or no short option they're forced to kick long which usually ends up in the hands of the opposition loose back or ruckman or as you see it 'happy to kick long to an opponent standing on their own'. It's also why they lead to the boundary as defenders can't zone the area outside the boundary line. The games not as easy as it looks

I know WHY it happens, but that doesn't make it any less annoying. Who said the game "looks" easy? We complicated the game so much that most long time footy fans can't understand what's going on. The whole point is, the game SHOULD be easier to play, but coaches won't allow that. They're so busy coming up with some style that confuses the opposition that they've destroyed the game as a spectacle.

As I've posted before, Albert Einstein once said any fool can complicate things, but it takes a genius to simplify them, and that certainly rings true with Aussie Rules. A simple game that was easy to play and aesthetically pleasing, turned into an ugly mobile chess game.

The media (usually Bartlet and Ralph) going nuts over something stupid, something that does not matter and no one cares about but they are acting like it is ruining the game. A few weeks ago both of them were acting like the runners were the greatest scourge the game has ever seen and need to be removed and I was thinking the entire time "who the **** cares, why are you even discussing something so pointless" but they didn't just discuss it, they discussed it for a full half hour.

I know people think that holding the ball and incorrect disposal don't get called often enough, but those fans that cry "BALL!" as soon as the ballhandler gets tackled (when there was legitimately no reasonable prior opportunity) are terrible.

AFL's 'country' round.
Where rural Australians are depicted as hicks who wear a wide brim hat, have a stick of straw hanging out of the corner of their mouth and sit outside with their whittling sticks.
Piss off with that shit.

Isn't that the country though?

Also, what the **** have they done to promote country footy apart from the already scheduled game at TIO stadium and get some sheep and driza-bone's into the studio. Really clutching here

the fact that the holding the ball and slapping the hands in a marking contest rules are interpreted differently contest to contest

holding the ball in particular makes no sense... if a player is run down but still disposes of the ball correctly... it sint holding the ball

The amount of time the commentators spent talking about Danger during the game. FMD we get it he was injured and he came back on.

Annoys me too as a Geelong supporter. Everyone knows and sees Danger can play well. I'd I prefer they tell us more about what we don't know, like help the viewers get to know the lesser known guys who are putting in decent performances.

To be fair that was a great performance by him.

Unpopular opinion for a Crowie but I still like him. Even when he is an attention seeking knob. At least he is not an AFLbot who is as entertaining as cardboard in the media.

It is a shame no club uses green.

Freo could have been unique using green but instead have virtually turned their purple into blue to be like too many other teams as a marketer says it is a nice colour.

Yes, they did have a splash of green for awhile

He is exactly an AFL bot, he has become the spokes person for all their non footy driven campaigns!

It was a great performance, but they were talking like he came back on after being clinically dead for a few minutes for all we know he just has a bruise on his shin.

Danger played exclusively forward and Selwood didnt do EVERYTHING, who were the players who stood up in the clearances, who gained extra metres without danger in the middle etc. Not just 3 qtrs of 'this is the bravest thing since the anzac troops jumped the trench at gallipoli'
