For stuff like this independent verification seems important.

I’ve got a tinny with a roof that can totally dive to the wreck of the titanic, I’ve certified it myself.
Yeah - it’s an interesting subject which there is a lot of good literature on. The psychology of the designers would be bent towards a design with no deficiencies i.e., we’ve considered all the possibilities and this submersible craft is the result. Not to mention they would be commercially interested in the success of the project that would bias them as well.

For an independent verifier to sign off on the project, the thinking would be more along the lines of “are you nuts!? There are only a few of these submersibles in the world and you want me to put my name to it!?”.

This explains why no one accepted the roadworthy certificate I wrote myself when I was trying to sell my old car.

Its morbid and probably comes across as harsh but honestly, leave em there.

They knew the risks, they accepted them. If there was a chance of saving lives sure, spend the money, but at this point, what does it achieve.
Yeah sadly even if they do locate the sub there's no way they are going to get it to the surface with the remaining oxygen/time left on board.

what is the banging noise then that they are hearing?

Some sonar experts saying the banging is falling debris from the wreck, and to think it is from the Titan is 'wishful thinking.'

Coming to the conclusion that these guys were dead on Sunday caused by a catastrophic failure to the infrastructure of the Titan. Everything else has been clutching at straws.

Either that or they got wedged somewhere due to a current and have been stuck. Either way, they are gone, imo.

imagine paying that sort of money for a deathride like that. look at the *ing video on youtube.

My sister messaged me last night saying:

'Imagine paying $250,000 to see the titanic only for your submarine to become the sequel...."

yeah i'd rather die in space, would be a much more beautiful ending to life than the murky water at 4km deep.

Pitch black, in a tin can you can't even really stretch out in, and wondering the whole time if you will be rescued (if it didn't implode due to the pressure and catastrophic failure.) No thanks.

As you said, much rather die in space, floating peacefully, seeing everything and knowing this is the end.

Hypothermia or drift off to sleep - this makes it sound like there could be a bit more involved when they run out of oxygen

tell you what if they do find the sub and retrieve it there will be some pretty raw footage being left by these guys i imagine.

Training and experience for the people involved in the rescue.
