I mean, in Australia not really. Some perspective is always good.
nah I'm not subscribing to this one

we live in a capitalist society where the top 1% leech off the rest of us, we've got massive inflation, the RBA trying to force another 150k people into unemployment, people living in tents, one of the worst welfare systems in the OECD despite our wealth as a nation

entrenched racism

decades of bipartisan neoliberal policy, slow erosion of our education and health systems and an ever widening gap between the rich and the rest of us

corporate capture of our governments

the media class is complicit in all of this and it's not actually getting better

we're still racing to burn the planet as fast as anyone

if you're happy right now you're either not paying attention or you're in the 1%

So the Sub is meant to automatically surface after 24 hours, the ballast can be manually removed through internal pumps but is supposedly also secured by ropes or something that deteriorates after 24 hours releasing the ballast and allowing it to float up. Another failsafe malfunction or the sub is trapped

Key ships and recovery vessels/personnel are at the same spot right now, perhaps something is happening?
Reckon it's a last ditch effort around one particular poi.

I'm thinking because of the pressures the craft would be operating under. Bolts on the inside and they could become projectiles inside if they pop under pressure.
If your door bolts are going it’s not gonna matter if they’re going in or out at that depth.

If they had til 8pm AEST and it’s a 2 hour descent then we’ve just hit zero hour.

Is so hope they somehow miraculously survive.

I mean can you imagine how good the film about it starring Tom Hanks would be?

I doubt there would be a film billionaires just don't make sympathetic enough characters just look at the online reaction and they aren't even confirmed dead yet

Maybe Hanks could play a lower class rescuer struggling with his conscience while his family back home are evicted for not paying rent and can't afford food. Then when Hanks completes the miraculous rescue one of the billionairs hands him a crisp $100 note and says "You earned this pal"

Neckbeards failing at life sitting on the internet aren't the normal people it would be aimed at though.
