I skipped most of the comments and it's the same thing on way too many tweets - main reason for posting that one was the image as I haven't really seen a clean image of the vessel, and with the shelving behind that it starts to put into perspective how small it is

And then there's this article I've started reading - no seats, only a carpet floor to sit on, and only 1 person can stretch out at a time. Don't not sound a comfortable experience at all regardless of what ones trying to see

Its alarmingly basic inside. Like, really.
Imagine the money you would have to have to pay $250K to go down 12000 feet or whatever in that thing.

I think the diving to Titanic industry may well be sunk along with it.
people are all about the experience, but that tiny sub would not have given much of an experience imo. i would rather control a small sub from the safety of the ship and see it all.

In that case, give me a pair of AR glasses/goggles (whatever they're called), have that thing fixed on land but in a simulation setting and go from there in real time

The "experience" if diving deep to the Titanic but without the risk

Exactly, i think you could have a truly awesome dive experince without the risk controlling a hi definition submersible camera around the wreck

Only my opinion but I'd say something's gone wrong and the pressure down that far has caused it to implode. Expect it was instant death.

The more you learn about the sub, the more I find it incredible that a billionaire would've thought it was an acceptable risk.

and its controlled by a Logitech game controller, had them before and wasnt the best at times

Interesting article, also notes that this sub has been lost before, scary to think it could have resurfaced but they still wouldn't be able to open it themselves as it is locked from outside so it's imperative that they search on the water and below for it making it a huge task

I believe that's why they sent the choppers out yesterday? Can't imagine they can see too deeply into water.

Must be bloody hard finding something that small bobbing in the water from that height as well.

Why wouldnt it have a GPS or pinga or whatever that can be activated upon resurfacing if needed?
The thing seems a not very well thought out design and construct for something that is going into the equivalent of outer space.

why the * is it bolted shut from the outside
why would anyone ever get inside that hunk of junk
Can only assume a safety precaution so no one opened it while down there? I mean, you'd like to believe no one would have of course.

The whole thing seems very iffy.

The millions of dollars being spent to rescue a couple of dumb arse billionaires that got in a home made, non certified sub at $250k a pop, in what is also quite possibly an illegal dive......

And then you find out they've lost contact before and still didn't put in any safety measures for finding it if the comms go down...

I hear the owner of the company was on it so at least he's reaping what he was sowing
