Injury Mitch Duncan - foot fracture/ minor Achilles surgery

Watching the vision, that is about as unlucky as anyone could get copping a three month injury. Running in open space and just changed direction slightly with no one around him. :(

It can always be worse. Hope they take the time needed to get it right. They mentioned surgery gets him back fastest, 10 weeks, here's hoping that it heals properly and they don't rush him. No need of that.

And can the 09 draft class PLEASE GET A ****ING BREAK!

Is there a chance this could possibly be season ending?
Anything longer than 12 weeks and you could almost put him on ice so he'll be fit and firing for preseason (If we don't look like making finals come round 22-23). Hopefully it's only max 10 weeks and he's ready to go for the business end of the season (assuming we're there abouts).

I hate to say it but why not? Puts him at round 18 say - any sets backs and that's it. :(

I think it's more that the Gods favoured us for a while and now we are back with rest....
were they favouring us during the 07-11 period when we lost Egan, both Abletts, had johnson and Chapman carrying regular injuries during finals, Ottens and his Mr Magoo accidents and Rookes hamstrings that killed his career 4 years to early?

Agree -leave him out for the rest of the year-bring him back Round 1 2016.

It's such bad luck for Mitch and the club. It could've been worse than fractured metatarsal so I suppose we can take comfort in that. I hope Mitch can find his form again later in the year. But we know how tough that can be having such a long break during the season. Hopefully we'll get Kelly or Bartel back soon.

As a side note, Larkins was right on the money. Don't get the hate for the guy.
I just think it's a bit uncool to comment on someone's medical issue before they/the club release a statement just my opinion is all.

But... but... but...

it's just a little bone!!

Get well soon, Mitch!! And please don't come back until you are 100%!

Weird that the footage Foxtel showed was of an incident where Mitch was in contact with an opponent- tackling, IIRC- and his foot looked like it had bent back and then twisted under his opponent. That must've been dragged up from an earlier incident because what has now been shown was something totally innocuous! Something that all players do over and over and over during games and at training. Just a simple change of direction! :( He certainly was given a hard whack by the Bad Luck fairy in this case, wasn't he?

He might find the radio and TV networks stop paying him if he stops commenting...

I can't see how surgery can be speeding things up if it is going to be 10-12 weeks and any normal fracture would be about 6 weeks to be healed anyway- then rehab and fitness on top of that.

It's not a medical report, but the "In the Mix" article on the Cats website today said that Kelly trained last week, and could be available this weekend if he trains well during the week.

Well give Jansen one more week in the VFL then bring him in, the season's already gone may as well get games in to kids, move Lang in to the middle and give Cocky a full game....Geelong v Carlton - Two rebuilding teams playing each other. Sad, sad days down at the GFC and if we lose to Carlton the bleakest of winters awaits. Anyway I'm going off to listen to some Radiohead to cheer up ;)
