We got Carltons second rounder. I think with our fitness team we believe we could get the best out of him.
Why do you need him with Mcstay, ASHJ, Cox and Mihocek, even DCAM who can go back to more of a fwd if you obtain a ruck

How can the pies guarantee him a best 22 spot next year with that group, which has been mentioned as a pre requesite almost

His age profile is good with him being 22 next year and I think he makes a good Mihocek replacement.
Cox is 32, Mihocek is 30, in 2 years time they might both be gone. Ash is okay but at the moment he either marks it or nothing and his pressure and second efforts are poor. Ash also hasnt signed the contract yet which is interesting. Cameron is our preferred main ruck and hasnt played forward of the ball for most of the season and I dont feel that will change in the near future.

Jesus H Christ. Good thing you're not on the list mgmt. team!

Don’t get me wrong I absolutely want him to stay and if he didn’t do his knee and recaptured his form he’s an easy early round 1.

However unfortunately for us, doing his knee and missing a year will bring down his trade value. I also think given he’s out for the year and a chunk of next, the club will do the right thing by him if he requested the Hawks (as someone mentioned above) and make it a relatively quick and simple trade.

Of course though if he requested to go to a club with an earlier second rounder, that would be the go.

We generally trade it good faith as a club so if he unfortunately requests to go, I can’t see the club playing hardball for a higher pick if we’re offered their second.

Considering he was dropped to the SANFL when he did his ACL and is still rehabbing into 2024, what do you think he’s worth?

I’d say a club would have to give up future 2nd to get him
Nothing personal as lots here do it, but a f2 is a weird assessment, given a future second could be anything from 19-36. Where in that range is he worth? If our second which is around 30 isn’t enough then how much higher is needed?

I think the dropping pre injury has been blow out of proportion, he played the majority of games he was available before that and was only sent back due to kicking inaccuracy. That coupled with the ACL has led to some people massively undervaluing him.

On 2021/22 form, he’s easily worth a first. He’s 21yo, played 49 games for 65 goals, mark of the year, multiple rising star noms. Not many around similar.
Blind Freddy could see his elite traits and potential.

There’s clubs that would pay a late first right now, but I’d rather he re-signs than take that for him.

I would be happy if the pies offered port our 1st but I think it would more likely be Carltons 2nd. But its mostly about which club he selects if he wants to leave and what they are willing to offer.

I doubt he got dropped for inaccuracy.

It might be a lack of defensive efforts, lack of composure in the contest, not competing hard enough or not playing a specific role well enough, but missing a few shots on goal sounds unlikely.

Youd think he may aswell stay at Port and wait for Dixon to retire then

If the Hawks are keen their pick 32 is about on the mark now given his knee injury. That will likely get pushed back a couple anyway.

Then we can forward that on for Esava.
Might end up just being a straight swap of esava for georgiades if he is interested in us and esava wants out

If he wants more senior games, makes no sense for him to want to go to Geelong.

Hawthorn make the most logical sense out of all interested suitors

Hawkins about to retire or possibly at best 1 more season, rohan is 30, Cameron is also 30, Ollie Henry is not exactly a lock and could be overtaken.

A spot is his if he is good enough to take it

If he is happy at Port he should do that.
Hes happy at port if they can guarantee him best 22 for next year

With Dixon, Finlayson and Marshall ahead. They either need to chabge the sturcture and force a small out or tell him its a challenge for best 22

Then hed look at a VIC side who can offer best 22 next year

Cox, ASHJ, Mihocek, Kreuger and Mcstay is a fair group

All good. The only issue with our group is that they are all close to retirement (Cox and Mihocek) or they are borderline VFL (Johnson and Kreuger). A young 22 year old forward who is best 22 would be a perfect addition. I think with Dixons retirement Mitch comes in straight into Ports side. Good luck to him with whatever he decides.

We totally mismanaged him by letting him rot in the SANFL where he eventually tore his ACL, playing in a farmer's league he's too good for.

Personally, if he chooses to leave I can hardly blame him. For all the things Port have got right his year, Mitch wasn't one of them. Even Stevie Wonder can see he is an immense talent.
