Would be curious though at what pitches is being taught. There is a concern of the mechanics of throwing a curveball for example is too extreme for developing players.
Higher risk of Tommy John surgeries etc.
What is his pitching tool bag or what would he like it to be ?
Played junior with Liam Hendriks, and he was training almost every day. Fastball early then curveball around 15-16.
Oh no it’s not. It’s delicious. It’s glorious. What a monumental **** up/implosion and disgrace to the stellar performance by Cole that the series did not head back to LA.
Of all the pitchers to **** up against. You let down your ace. Judge and Volpe should hang their heads in shame.
An absolute **** up of the highest order.
If Stanton isn’t the DH, Judge is.Aaron Judge is the biggest fraud in baseball.
Those fielding errors.
Congrats Dodgers.
If Stanton isn’t the DH, Judge is.
Just too slow at CF
You only need one moment to describe this entire series.Too good
Hopefully the series gets remembered for " the one where Freddie Freeman went god-mode " and not " the one where Aaron Judge ****ed up "
Loving life right now
LOL even i marked out when he hit thatYou only need one moment to describe this entire series.
The moment freddie ripped the souls out of the yankees and won dodgers the series.
It is surreal.LOL even i marked out when he hit that
Really interesting with the change up added in with fastball. That takes a lot of practice and finessing with the fingers/elbow. Wasn’t even a thing 20 years ago. It was either the curveball or 4 seam. Sinkers were just too hard to master. But now it’s expected. He's permitted to throw fastballs and changeups. His primary pitch is a 4-seamer, and he's experimented with a 2-seamer. I believe sinkers and cutters would also be permitted as they are still fastballs, but he hasn't learned how to throw those pitches yet.
He's also learning a changeup, but he's not thrown it in a game just yet. In his competition, you throw something other than a fastball or a changeup, like a slider or a curve, it's called a ball. I believe that next year (when he's 14), he'll be allowed to throw a curveball.
His coach has told me that the plan is for him to throw a maximum of two innings on Sunday. I'm fully in support, because at this age, it's easy to have a 25-30 pitch inning if it goes off the rails, he's going up against a strong hitting team on Sunday, and not many pitchers at this level have the stamina to go more than two innings comfortably. Even our best pitcher was struggling with his command in his third inning of work last weekend.
We've been using a lot of Youtube videos posted by Dan Blewett on how to help him learn pitches and refine his mechanics. He hasn't quite got his mechanics to be consistently repeatable yet, but he's only been playing baseball competitively for six months, so he's come a long way already.
Interesting that you say Hendriks was training every day. My son's coaches are pretty strict on rest days after he pitches, even in training. There's a lot more awareness of trying to prevent arm injuries through overuse at the youth level, because so many young pitchers seem to injure their UCLs before they even get into professional baseball.
I was in line at the checkout at the supermarket last week and the guy in front of me had his Yankees cap on. I said he must be pretty excited about the Yankees. Obviously he had no idea what I was talking about.Full credit to all of the Yankees fan I'm seeing around town in their caps, stoically going about their business acting like nothing happened.
