They weren't that long at the gate I went in. Pretty normal at the southern end.
The red or yellow gate?
This was about 2 o'clock for a 10 past 5 start.

I've still never been in an atmosphere quite like that game. the last quarter was insaneRound 22 vs Collingwood 1993. Win we play finals.
The lines to get into the stadium 2 hours before the match were 300 to 400 metres long.
He would have filled the joint hours before the match.
Went to that game. Was awesome. Our first quarter wasn't flash. But then it kicked into gear. The bar on the eastern wing was rabid with magpie support.Round 22 vs Collingwood 1993. Win we play finals.

that was my first ever crows game, we took the bus down from the Barossa and got to the game about an hour before it started. we had to stand the entire game where the crows race at aami later became, along with a few hundred others
if there was only 48.5k at that game, i'll eat my hat. theres rumours around that there was closer to 52-53k for it
He probably means picking it up. Which is probably why he "soccered" so many ridiculous goals !!Dennis Cometti's quote from today's Advertiser is interesting:
Question: Who have you enjoyed calling the most?
Answer: Tony Modra was the most exciting player I've called. Certainly not the best but when he was on some of those days and nights at Footy Park were magic. By the same token, I've never seen a player so good above his head but so poor below his knees.
Poor below his knees? Obviously hasn't watched the highlights video lol.
Lol I'm a few years older than you.Played against Mods back in my South days. At Richmond in a pre season game (Escort Cup). I was in the forward line on Tony Burgess, and Mods on the HHF for West. Specky after specky after specky. I asked Burgess who the hell is this bloke. His answer, "dunno, some kid they got from the Riverland".
Could just tell he was going to be a star and was wasting his time in the SANFL.
Didnt mind a beer at the Grand back then either
Port fans like this postThere have been rumours of the SANFL crowd fudging since 1991. They would (allegedly) remove 12 to 15% of the crowd figure as they would then have to pay the AFL less on tickets sold.

I forgot he used to take hangers.Totally forgot he nailed a lot of goals from kicking off the ground or from the boundary line. Damn difficult degree of difficulty.

Actually ablett won it. Mods kicked the most after finals.Won the Coleman medal in the same year when arguably the greatest full forwards to have ever played the game did.
Lockett, Dunstall, Ablett.

He did but from memory ablett had retired and I think dunstall was injured. 93 was when they were all kicking tons, and modra kicked the most that year, but ablett won the Coleman.I thought he won it in 97?
The Modra trade is the biggest mistake in the history of the club. Set us back a decade.
He kicked some amazingly good soccer goals for Adelaide too.Was a good soccer player if I'm not mistaken?
Ronnie Burns and Richard Tambling are still out in front. The Gibbs trade has since surpassed that dark day
