Modra Question

What a partnership they could have been. I think the enemies thing merely resulted around the hatred for Port that many held at the time. Its probably why Hodges never felt truly comfortable.
I remember in one game both playing together at full forward. The ball came in and they both made a lead to exactly the same position, stride by stride and side by side with their opponents a meter behind. It seemed, if anything, they played identically and would have got in each others way. There was room for only one of them. To be fair to Hodges, I think this was after a horrific ankle injury and he had lost a lot of mobility so Modra was given the nod.

GODRA !
The early days of the Crows combined with Modra unbelievable times we'll never see the likes of them again

In 1992 modra kicked 53 goals in 10 games for west. He kicked 10 goals in round 1 for west against the eagles.

I still remember that 1991 elimination final between west and port when modra kicked 8 goals against Roger Delaney. Delaney was probably the best full back in the competition back then and mods gave him a bath. I remember Delaney fuming and trying to rough mods up but it made no difference.

Modz won us games we should of lost, playing on the best full backs in the league.

Towelled up the best when we weren't supplying quality ball to him, when our Midfield was getting beat.

The last game of 93, against collingwood, to propel us into our first final. He danced around two many time that day. Mathew's thought the game won and played a second on him, knowing he was the game changer. Didn't matter

The biggest roar I’ve ever heard at a match was that final minor round game in 93 when Liptak kicked the goal that put us in front. Absolutely deafening. The year ended in tears though. The prelim result was absolutely brutal but the hype surrounding Modra and the team that season was insane. It was like The Beatles came to town and stayed for six months.
