I was just watching a game from 1997 of the pies vs Freo and the great man Nathan Buckley had 46 touches and he also did it on another occasion in 2000 against freo, I was just wondering who holds the record for the most touches in a game. I remember Greg Williams had some big games, any Bruce Mcevaney's out there!!!!!!!!!

Sydney listed player Tim Schmidt had 65 touches playing for the Swans Reserves in the Canberra league this season, that's the highest number I know of.

I think I remember hearing Leigh Matthews once had close to 60 possies.

did he get a game the next weeek?

Not sure, I know Kane Tenace had 2 games on the trot of near or over 50 touches in the VFL this year.

Well i hope he got a game, but if he didnt, it tells you the coaches dont think much of the NSW league, hopefully you guys get some players into the VFL next year like it was being discused

Haydn Bunton Snr apparently had over 60 touches (may have been 70??) in a WAFL game going back 50 or 60 years ago.

That was Hayden Bunton Junior when he was captain coach during one of his premiership years either 1961, 62 or 63 for Swan Districts. The oppostion coach put a tagger on Bunton one game and asked his tagger to restrict Bunton to 20 kicks. The coach kept a tally of the kicks Bunton got. After 20 he would change taggers. At the end of the game the coach showed Bunton his tally, it was 88 kicks!! They didn't worry about counting handballs in the good ole days.;)

Greg Williams - Swans v Saints SCG - Mid-Late 80s - 28 kicks, 25 handballs (maybe other way around), 6 goals - I think his only ineffective possession was a poster.

Just an awesome performance.

Other than that, there was a match up in North Central victoria a couple of years ago, where the rover hurt himself just before half time - at that time he had 41 kicks, some handpasses, and 13 goals. He'd be spewing, wouldn't he? - could have had a big day.

I actually asked him about that at the Best and Fairest - it was quite amusing. He said he was doing the same things he normally does, just everyone kept giving him the ball!

The Peter Featherby game I remember people talking about. Pretty sure it was against Melbourne.
