The 1980 science fiction movie 'Raise the Titanic' is not a good movie, but I kind of liked the scene where the Titanic is raised from the ocean floor and towed into New York 68 years after she set sail for that destination, and the ship passes the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. If only the Hindenburg was flying past in that shot it would have been perfect.

In the defense of the makers of the film the lost liner had not been sighted for 68 years and would not be found for another 5, so they had no idea of the state of the ship and whether it went down in one piece or the stern broke away at the final plunge was the subject of much conjecture. However, the Titanic looks in remarkably good shape for a ship that had been at the bottom of the North Atlantic for close to 7 decades, her masts and most of her infrastructure still intact and still sporting three of her four funnels. Interesting, the only funnel she was missing was the second one, and this was the only funnel that remained in place as the ship went under, although it had become detached before Robert Ballard's crew found the wreck in 1985. The first, third and fourth funnels all fell as the Titanic sank, the first one killing quite a number of people.

I did see a video by Dr Ballard that the ship was in good condition, it wasn't until we started to visit the ship, the decaying increased

I have watched the raising part a few times on YouTube, the best part of a shite movie, apparently it's not like the book

The producer Lew Grade said about the film: Raise the Titanic? It would have been cheaper to lower the Atlantic.

Something a bit different for you all. The Moses Supposes routine from Singing In The Rain. I'm not normally a fan of musicals, but SITR is just a great film on so many levels. This particular routine features Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor and is just mind-blowing in its complexity and for their synchronisation. Kelly was easily the greatest, especially when you learn that he was the choreographer as well. O'Connor was also a fabulous dancer, as this clip shows.

Kelly casts an odd glance in O'Connor's direction at about the 2:15 mark. I reckon it's him thinking to himself "Finally, someone who can keep up with me."

Sorry about the Hungarian subtitles, but the other clips were of even lower quality.

One from Kindergarten Cop in 1990:

John Kimble (Arnold Schwarzenegger) walks down corridor and sees fat kid with many lunch boxes opened and devouring the contents.

Kimble: Are these all your lunches?
Fat kid shakes his head in denial
Kimble (picks up fat kid and holds him up in the air): You mean you eat other peoples' lunches?
Fat kid nods in affirmation
Kimble: STOP IT!
Fat Kid throws up over John Kimble

Please forgive me, but could not help but think of this scene.

I love lots of scenes from the 'Mr. Bean' TV series in the early 1990s, but my favorite would have been when Mr. Bean's car had a flat battery on the same morning an elderly gentleman had a heart attack in the street and an ambulance arrived to take him to hospital. Seeing a solution to his problem, Mr. Bean sneakily gets a set of jumper leads, and jump starts his car from the ambulance. As Mr. Bean drives happily away, the paramedics get into the ambulance to transport the heart attack patient to hospital and we hear the sounds of the engine not starting and the ambulance's siren failing ...

In the first series of King of Queens Carrie had a younger sister named Sara, who originally moved into Doug and Carrie's house along with Arthur. Sara wasn't around long before she suffered the same fate as Chuck Cunningham from Happy Days or Judy Winslow from Family Matters, written out of the show without explanation and never seen or heard of again.

While Sara Spooner lasted just six episodes, she did provide one very memorable and hilarious scene where Doug is shaving in the bathroom and Sara bursts in, pleading to be allowed to use the shower as she is running late for work. Doug agrees, but becomes very distracted at the silhouette of his sexy sister-in-law showering, and when he finishes shaving and is sitting at the kitchen table, his face is covered in cuts. Carrie asks Doug if he shaved with broken glass and wants to know what happened, and a sheepish Doug replies that he'd rather not say.

The early 1990s UK sitcom 'Keeping Up Appearances' had a lot of funny scenes, but one that still had me laughing the next day when I first saw it years ago was an episode where Hyacinth and (reluctantly) Richard were looking after an old lady for the day, driving her around. The old lady liked a few drinks and went into the pub, and Hyacinth who did not want to be seen entering public houses, dispatched Richard to retrieve her, while she waited in the car. Becoming impatient Hyacinth pressed the horn, just as a waiter was passing by with a tray of drinks which he dropped all over the ground, the furious waiter saying, "You silly bitch' to Hyacinth before storming away.

I loved a scene from the 2005 Australian comedy movie 'You and Your Stupid Mate' where the two main characters - a pair of bumbling unemployed slackers much like those from Dumb and Dumber - are delighted to by chance meet their favorite actor from their favorite soap opera. The character, named Watto, has a catch phrase - 'What's going on here?' and the two idiots yell out across the room, 'Hey Watto, what's going on here?'

We then see Watto's face darken, and a series of flashbacks where a paper boy, two girls jogging by, a creepy guy at a public urinal and a cashier at an adult shop all yelled out, 'Hey Watto, what's going on here?' at him. His scowl gets more intense, and he barks at the two slackers to 'f**k off!'

This was such a funny and under-rated movie, and unfortunately mostly forgotten by now.
