Who designed this? This is just amateurish. Plenty of stadiums throughout the world and Australia that they could have modelled on. It's obviously an issue as every player has commented on it in post-game interviews. If there are another 2 lower limb injuries attributable to the surface, they should just go back to Subi and fix the surface now.

Have you seen any pics of Subi lately? It wasn't fit to hold a scratch match in February.

Anyone else getting a little worried about the stadium surface and what it might be doing to our boys over a long season? We’ve had a fair few boys being sore between games etc already and we are only 5 weeks in.

Quite worried. Reckon the bye will be very handy in 2018.

Not hugely informative. But I didn't know that they have banned teams training there for 3 weeks to investigate.

Just need to find a way to turn that into a ban on just opposition teams training there till 2057 and we're golden.

Went to the 'River Room' before yesterday's game; pretty impressed. Quality full strength beers and food, games on projectors and an impressive view of the river/East Perth which will be much better when the bridge is finished. Would be great to go to before Saturday night games to sink a few and check out the other games being played. Only gripe is the lack of seating or even standing tables, would be something they could improve on.

Yeh I popped in a couple of games ago - was nice to be able to get a bottle of Matsos - just a shame I couldn't take it out even in a cup

Wasn't overly crowded, and could have done with a few more tables and maybe some extra food options.

Hi, apologies if this isn't the right thread for this, but a few mates and I are dead keen on flying over for the Derby in August. According to Ticketek tickets go on sale on 23 July, which is really close to the match. We'd hate to arrange for flights and accommodation only to miss out on tickets. Is there another way to go about buying tickets earlier?

Maybe the virgin travel packages

I'm not sure where you'd get a presale other than through the Eagles member waiting list.

If you are organised and are on the ticket website the minute it opens, you won't have a problem. Maybe get a couple of computers. But its not like they sell out in the first few minutes.

Do they check your ticket to see if you are category A or B? Or could a lower category pleb slip in?

On my ticket it says "River Room Priority", that's about all they check.

Optus Stadium open again for AFL clubs training . Significant improvements have been made to the surface including the planting of rye grasses to achieve a fuller lusher coverage . Numerous heat and lighting has also be used to improve the surface especially on the sides of the ground which receives reduced light .

No alarm bells here , the surface should improve each season going forward it sounds although the Etihad issue on the wing areas sounded similar ...cough cough .

They sound very confident .

The weather's been good for the repairs.

Your observations are spot on, it is great apart from the totally inadequate amount of seating.

Hey guys, was living near Greenwood station and have been catching the train in. Nice and easy. Am now on yokine, am thinking of training it in from glendalough station. Is there much parking there?

Very little parking at Glendalough station , better at Stirling Station heaps more parking .
Glendalough closer to Perth and your location ...might be a bus that goes direct to the Stadium from Morley or Mirrabooka that goes close to your home . That would be very fortunate though .
