Just watched the footage for the first time and totally agree with you.Nothing but a coward who not only didn't have the balls to show up to the tribunal, but the decency to apologize to the victim. You can run little coward, but you can't hide!

It's a harsh penalty but he deserved it.
1. It's a Grand Final so he should get double.
2. He didn't show up to face his "crime".
3. The magnitude of the injuries to the Congupna boy are terrible and what about his memories of the Grand Final everytime he thinks about it  it won't be so joyful.

Strangely the kid who copped the 200 weeks can still appear before the tribunal.

Still no one can explain why the Congupna players that were punching United players were not suspended. As I have said the United players deserved to be suspended and were there were at least two from Congupna that deserved suspensions as well. Strangely the league has said it is ok for Congupna players to hold an opposing player in a headlock and hit him around the head and face multiple times, double standards.

I do believe the Echuca United boy needs to be suitably punished for the onfield incident in the grand final, however I dont believe he deserves this almost 'hate' campaign against him and the intense media scrutiny. I think the tribunal members should be excused from their duties for their lack of foresight of the impact their decision has had on this boys life. He is after all 16 years old.

Hmmmmmmmmmm........
Hate campaign, NO.
Punished with 200 weeks, YES.
If he was in a bar and KING HIT someone and got CHARGED with ASSAULT and convicted he could've done 200 days in the slammer, or more. No-one should have to eat through a straw for the next few months because of some IRRESPONSIBLE ACT. WELCOME to reality boy..........

Couldn't agree more, he must be made to face the consequences of this brutal attack.

Where has the league said this is alright? If the boys were cited they should be suspended but I dont recall them going in the book or inflicting devastating injuries and did the boy have to go to hospital or leave the field through this fracas? I'm not a Congupna person so dont think this is Double standards on mybehalf... Maybe an investigation should be made if the boy suffered injuries. It's obviously a contentious issue and maybe 200 weeks will affect the boy but you can't go whacking blokes not even in the fight and unsuspecting.

Broken Jaw... and it was about 10 minutes to go they were down about 10 goals so no need for it really, Im Cobram so no bias in any way. Just dont go much on snipers, toe to toe 'Bring it on'.............;)

Again I will reiterate that the kid who broke the other kids jaw deserved to be punished I have no issue with that. But if we go by what you are saying then only one United player inflicted such devastating injuries on another player yet three were suspended. The other two also deserved to be suspended. There were at least two Congupna players that also deserved to be suspended but didn't. In a fight like that it seems weird that only one teams players were singled out.

I actually wonder what his punishment would have been had he turned up to the tribunal am absolutely sure it would have been less than 200.

Yeah I agree only one team (3 players) to be suspended out of a fight taht big isn't good, it seems that the cracked down on the losing team which isn't right if there was misconduct by any other players suspensions should be handed out, it has left a sour taste in everyones mouth and I think we all agree that this simply can't be tolerated. Our leagues juniors are what most clubs pride themselves on as they are the life of our future Senior teams, any repeats in the future must have full investigation as no one likes the result of such actions. As for not turning up to be sentenced didnt help the young fella, is the club at fault for this or is young fella out of control or was it simply miscommunication??

To the best of my knowledge the club can not contact the kid. From where I was I could see an umpire watch a Congupna player land many strikes as I have said earlier he held the United player in a headlock and went to town. Just after that broke up the kid who got 32 weeks stood toe to toe with a Congupna kid and also went to town the umpire still in the same spot other than the actual violence the umpire was looking directly at both of those incidents and nothing being done is very disappointing.

I have said it before I am not condoning the fight but it does seem very one sided. My young feller will be playing U12 with United next season but I seriously have to question whether the Murray League is worth him playing in when he hits U14 and it is even harder because there is no way I will allow him to play for Echuca in GVFL.

The problem becomes apparent when there is to much emphasis played on winning . I speak having not seen a MFL junior game for a few years but the need to implement the mercy rule and now this, has me a little concerned that perhaps some are taking winning in junior Footy within the MFL a little to serious ?
I hear the appeal is scheduled for Monday evening , let's hope the kid involved fronts, gets his suspension reduced to a fair and reasonable amount and gets some stability within his life .
There is also some other details which severly clouds this situation , however upon here or any other public forum is not the place , I just hope everyone keeps a very open mind and takes a little time to consider this persons possible circumstance and what impact there comments may have on junior football in the area , which wrongly has been a victim in all this !

Geez mate you really are paranoid about Echuca!

The kid who got 32 weeks had it reduced to 14 weeks on appeal and if I read it right the kid who got 16 weeks has four weeks. The kid who got 200 weeks still hasn't turned up has had his appeal suspended until a later date.

As a United supporter I think if the kid won't turn up and be responsible for his actions the club should drop the appeal and leave him with 200 weeks unless of course there is a legitimate reason.

Just heard Cobram have out in a big offer for Yarrawonga's Matt Wollington....... They are after that flag big time
