When people say 'things sound the same' they're talking about pop music that is the most prevalent, which has increasingly morphed into a few proven methods that are catchy and make money.

Listen to one of the thousands of hip hop/rnb/pop songs doing the rounds on the radio in the last few years and it's a typical drum loop with a bunch of dudes who have that monotone Drake sound infested with auto tune.

Doesn't mean there isn't original or different sounding music out there still being made.

Spotify will change the trend of older people not trying new artists as this automatically throws new artists at you in genres you do or may like. It's so accessible even for older people who aren't going to spend time in record stores or jb hi fi looking for new music any more.

I know you're big Peter Green fan....I think you'd like another great singer/guitarist from the same era Stan Webb and his band Chicken Shack who just happened to have another famous name as a band member in the early days Christine Perfect aka McVie on keyboards/organ in the early days. I believe Stan and Peter were quite good mates back then and up until Peter's death.
