Thus far I got:

Gladiator
Last Samuri
LOTR 1/2/3
Pulp Fiction
Trainspotting
Fight Club
Lock Stock
Snatch

In no particular order - and purely for replay and entertainment value:

Pirates of the Caribbean
Starsky and Hutch
Donnie Darko
Stand By Me
Ocean's Eleven
Memento
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The Neverending Story
Star Wars Trilogy (V-VI)
Meet the Parents

I have all these ones, but there are also many more I want to add to my collection.

Has anyone got the program DVD Profiler? Is a good little program to organise all your DVD's. I have well over 100 in there now.

Too many to mention but absolute must haves include:

Star Wars trilogy
Indiana Jones trilogy
Lawrence of Arabia
perhaps Titanic for the missus?
an arrangement of music videos such as The Eagles and U2
Citizen Kane
The Godfather trilogy
(for me Highlander)
Brisbane Lions Three-peat! ;)

Star Wars Trilogy (i'm counting as one)
Die Hard Trilogy (ditto)
Godfather 1 & 2 (ditto)
Blow
Snatch
Indiana Jones Trilogy (again 1)
Planes, Trains & Automobiles
Kevin Smith Trilogy (well they are 5 but counting as one :p)
Casino
Goodfellas
Pulp Fiction
Family Guy Season 1

(Log in to remove this ad.)

1. Garden State
2. Superman: The Movie
3. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
4. Battle Royale
5. The Empire Strikes Back
6. Kill Bill Vol. 1
7. Clerks
8. Million Dollar Baby
9. Evil Dead
10. Dirty Harry
11. Pulp Fiction
12. Spider-man 2

Got them all anyway, but if I didn't or I was on a desert Island and could only take 12 DVDS it would be them. Mind you I'd have to make a coconut tv and dvd player. But after I get good at that I would make a coconut home entertainment system.

The Verdict
Somebody Up There Likes Me
Hud
Cool Hand Luke
Cat On A Hot Tin Roof
The Sting
Nobody's Fool

There seems to be a common denominator there :)

I have DVD Collector, much the same. Add your dvd's to your list, and you can download (most of the time) all the information about the movie - actors/actress, speical features/sounds and audios etc.. Great program just have to keep up with it.

What do you like then?

Music, books, outdoors etc.

There are no movies I have ever seen that I would say "That was awesome, I have to own it" Once I see a movie I've seen it, no need to own the thing.

I can't understand why as soon as DVD's came out, people started getting "collections", why didn't this happen in the VHS/Beta days?

People did collect VHS.
The big thing though is that ll those old movies that people have on videos are now being released on a better qualtiy format with extras. That is why dvd collections are becoming bigger.

My Baker's dozen

Serial Mom
The Goonies
Trainspotting
Meet the Feebles
Brain Dead
Lock Stock
The Great Escape
The Glenn Miller Movie
The Club
Once Were Warriors
Romper Stomper
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Jackie Chan's Twin Dragons

Roman Holiday, Philadelphia, Schindler's List, High Crimes, Gone With The Wind, Forest Gump, Breakfast At Tiffanys, Primal Fear, Aladdin, Grease, Se7en, The Shawshank Redeption

Oh and The Sex And The City dvd box set
