I am currently completing a summary for each club. Richmond is the 11th club which I have completed. There may be spelling or grammar errors due to me only being 14. Constructive criticism is recommended.

Richmond Tigers

With have failed to fit into the top 8 since 2001 where they ended their season campaign in 4th position. This may have let the Richmond supporters down, however expect a lot to change season. The tigers have put together a tremendously strong list and have overtaken various teams. Richmond has finally got their team structure and spine working who is a phenomenal effort and the outcomes will be proven in 2009. I am positive that keeping Terry Wallace was a great decision by the club and it has been evident by the team that he has arranged

The team will definitely finish in the top 8 judging by the great depth and stars in the side. Many footballers have been unlucky to miss out on participating in the starting 22. Hislop, Vickory, Raines, Polo, Jackson, Shultz, Rance, Edwards and Thompson are all worthy of seizing a position in the team. Injuries will not vitally effect the side due to the characteristics stated above.

Best 22:

B: Kelvin Moore - Will Thursfield - Chris Newman
HB: Jordan McMahon - Luke McGuane - Richard Tambling
C: Matthew Richardson - Brett Deledio – Ben Cousins
HF: Nathan Brown - Jack Riewoldt – Trent Cotchin
F: Mitch Morton - Cleve Hughes - Joel Bowden
R: Troy Simmonds – Nathan Foley – Shane Tuck
I/C: Adam Pattison - Matthew White - Kane Johnson - Mark Coughlan

Kelvin Moore – At the end of the 2007 season, Kelvin was on the verge of getting delisted. Terry persisted with the under-performing Kelvin and it incredibly paid off in 2008. Kelvin has secured himself as a third tall option down back. He has kept various stars of the competition quiet on several occasions throughout the season.

Will Thursfield – In Will’s 40 game career, he has learnt plenty from super star key forwards. Now he is ready for a great season in 2009. He will be another to exemplify his skill in 2009 by utilizing his great football brain. Will also contains great disposal skills where he is able to set up play and rebound well.

Chris Newman – With Chris only recently being announced as the new captain of this tremendously talented club, it will certainly enhance his footballing career. He will be a much more determined footballer in 2009. Chris racks up plenty of possessions and utilizes the ball extremely well. One of Chris’ greatest attributes is that he comprises the ability of playing offensively and defensively.

Jordan McMahon – The move from the Bulldogs to Richmond proved to be a successful one. Jordan is currently providing great run off the half back and doing well on small zippy forwards. He can still be soft at times, but he is looking to improve that aspect of his game.

Luke McGuane – Luke possesses tremendous defensive abilities. In the 16 games that he participated in during 2008, he has certainly secured a spot in the squad. Luke has good strength with reasonable pace which is a positive aspect of his game. Next season may be the one where he expresses his talent to the football world.

Richard Tambling – The half back position may be where Richard will find himself most comfortable. After a few years with the club, he has failed to play to his greatest ability on the wing and across half forward. Richard may not be a Buddy Franklin, but he is still a solid contributor for the club. Playing across the half back may allow him to utilize his speed at its highest capacity.

Matthew Richardson – Moving Matthew to the wing was a great decision by Terry Wallace because it has been an essential shift for the team. Matthew now presents as a target further up the ground and then pushes forward where he boots goals. He has an enormous engine and is currently using it wisely. Matthew has also left some room for footballers such as Hughes, Riewoldt and Vickory to develop.

Brett Deledio – Brett was certainly worthy of his number one selection and it is evident by his 2008 season. Brett is capable of breaking through the lines and utilizing his skills to his best. He also occasionally pushes forward and kicks goals. Another astonishing statistic about Deledio is that he takes an average of 7 marks per game whilst playing as a midfielder.

Ben Cousins – Ben Cousins certainly has the ability to dominate on the AFL field. Taking Ben was definitely an immense gamble which will hopefully pay off. If Ben fails to keep out of trouble, then the club may lose huge sponsorship deals. If Ben is successful, he will allow the club to push forward at a much more rapid rate and be premiership contenders in a couple of years. Ben has amazing ball winning abilities and skills to burn.

Nathan Brown – Nathan is all class and has finally gotten into the tremendous form that he was in before his dreadful injury. He is a unique player who scores some great goals. He is a vital asset for the team due to his consistency and his ability to lift the team. Brown also looked brilliant in his short stints in the midfield.

Jack Riewoldt – At 20, Jack is progressing quite well. The team is depending on him to kick more goals throughout the season than he did in 2008. H must obtain more possessions than 10 in order to get the best football out of him. He is still fairly young with plenty of room for improvement.

Trent Cotchin - Trent oozes class and has an amazing kick. His skill is first class and was good enough to go at number 2 in the 2007 draft. He will continue to develop and be mentored by stars such as Deledio, Foley and Cousins. This may seem like a big call, but I see a potential Brownlow Medalist in him.

Mitch Morton – Obtaining Mitch during trade week proved to be a successful pick up. In Mitch’s short time at the club, he has secured a spot in the forward pocket and provides a fine medium option up forward. He averaged two goals a game which is an exceptional effort. If he obtains the ball more often, he will be much more damaging up forward for the tigers.

Cleve Hughes – Cleve is almost a certain starter in the team for 2009. He has fine hands and reasonable pace on the lead. At 21, he must take that next step up and kick more goals. He averaged 2 goals per game which is an acceptable effort, but he definitely is capable of booting much more. His 6 goal’s goals against Port Adelaide was a great effort for someone who is still quite young,

Joel Bowden – Joel adds an extra dimension up forward. He leads out and has the ability to kick goals. He moved up the ground due to the much improved back-line. Joel is a third tall up forward who can create a mismatch.

Troy Simmonds – Troy is an excellent ruckman for Richmond. Troy does okay in the ruck work, but it is around the ground where he is damaging. He presents well and is basically another midfielder for the team. His disposal can let him down a little, but it isn’t really a serious issue.

Nathan Foley – Nathan is a great story who had another tremendous season. He obtains plenty of the ball weather it is him getting the ball himself or simply receiving it. He has explosive pace and has superior disposal. He, Deledio and Cousins will be a great trio.

Shane Tuck – Shane is a superstar in and under type. He continuously feeds the ball to the teams runners and wingman. He is awfully underrated due to Foley and Deledio also dominating through the midfield.

Adam Pattison – Adam is a reasonably good back up ruckman. He has been training with the forwards during pre-season, meaning that he might play up forward while Simmonds is accomplishing the ruck duties.

Matthew White – Matt has great running capabilities and has found a spot across the half forward line. He is quick with fine endurance. He can play through the midfield and kick goals whilst playing in the forward line. I believe Terry should develop White into a similar footballer to Jason Porplyzia at Adelaide. They both have extremely similar attributes.

Kane Johnson – Kane is certainly belongs in the best 22. At the age of 30, Kane is still a tremendously talented footballer who acquires plenty of possessions and utilizes it well. His main concern is his pace which is fairly average.

Mark Coughlan – Mark gets the last position in the squad of 22. Due to the skill and the tremendous footballing which he displayed prior to his injuries, he certainly is in the best 22 in terms of talent.

Defense Summary – The Richmond defense has finally shaped up and now looks to be a successful one. McGuane and Thursfield mind the key forwards while Moore plays on star medium forwards and occasionally on talls. Newman and McMahon provide great run and also are integral footballers defensively. Tambling will play a similar role as Mackie does at Geelong. He can play on the half back and push forward to the wing.

Midfield Summary – The Richmond midfield is now one of the finest in the league. Deledio and Foley have explosive pace and provide great run out of the midfield. Cousins will also play similar roles too these players. He is a Brownlow medalist, thus he will be an extremely beneficial footballer for the Tigers. Tuck will continue to perform well playing in an in and under role. Richardson will present well on the wing and be an essential link man when progressing into the forward 50.

Forward Summary – The small forwards are a superior asset for the club. They are currently the main goal kickers along with Richardson. Nathan Brown will persist with his dazzling skills in 2009. Morton will be a solid contributor and so will Joel Bowden. The weak point in the team is currently the lack of experience in the key forward department. The positive characteristic is that Hughes and Riewoldt will only improve from sufficient game time. Tyron Vickory will be a great forward for Richmond if he succeeds.

Overall, I see Richmond significantly enhancing in 2009. Expect the Richmond to finish anywhere between 4th and 8th.

I thought this would be a pisstake of Beaver's.
But in fact, it's almost as good.
With a better upsight.

Good right up, I agree with the parts I read!

Great work young man
I agree with playing Tambo in defence especially on players like Milne etc. You have done tremendously well ;)

Tremendous write up champ. You utilized your football knowledge to the best of your ability to create a superior write up to Beaver Fever's. Congratulations, and I look forward to reading your thoughts in future as you endeavour to enhance your already fine level of football knowledge.

But yeah it was a good write up. You know our list very well for an Essendon supporter.

Great stuff H2G:thumbsu:
Gutsy stuff coming on here to feral-land and posting it too.
Would have liked to have seen Connors in your best 22, and probably Edwards and I think Rance will be there by the season's end, but this shows that we are acquiring some real depth into our list.
Superb effort for anyone let alone a 14-year-old:)

fantastic write up H2G :thumbsu:

insightful and showed a real understanding of where our playing list is at, and the fact that you son't even support speaks volumes for your footy knowledge. Take a bow my friend

H2G's report - readable, concise, not too try-hard>>>>>Beaver's report - too long, don't care

Huh??? I tried to read the opening paragraph but couldn't because of all his errors. And he was being try hard, there was barely a negative comment. Giving an analysis without giving any thing to work on going in to the future is pointless.

And quit whinging on the too long factor, it takes about 2 minutes.
