Game Day NAB 2 - v Adelaide at Mt Barker

Suban and gu based on Nab cup should start round 1, whether we like them or not. I think either barlow or D.Pearce in danger based on performance (should lift rather than average in this match), when mundy is available.

When mundy is available, blakely is the one in danger not barlow or d pearce
Blakely to me I don't consider best 22 so will definitely play WAFL. Last season first 6 round gu at the outer , now he play himself in. Only one of them (Langdon or Weller) will be emergency.

I'm happy for Suban & Tendai to start the season in the best 22 if they perform as they have been this summer, they've been far from liabilities, in fact integral to our structres all summer.

I think I even saw Suban lower his eyes and kick a few stabbing passes yesterday!

And you would not be mistaken :thumbsu:

You probably heard Fyfe post game say he'd love a game in Lake Grace next year, do you think he said that just because he wants a free trip home or because he actually wants to play for the club he loves in the place he grew up?

No need to get so defensive guys, some supporters like a little romance in the game.
He did hang out with supporters and signed autographs and had some selfies taken. He wasnt locked in a shed somewhere. I do agree a little romance is good, but yeah, bigger picture ect

I know this is stiring old sh!t , if Sandi not ban Rd 1 he would had play. I am happy he didn't play , if he play come Rd 1 we select hannath instead of clarke we are in deep trouble.

It really is not a bad thing that the side is so strong that younger players have to force their way in based on form and development. Keep that going and opportunities come through injury or other players loosing form. Crozier saw that last year and ended up playing half the season. A Pearce and Taberner too. They have had fantastic opportunities to impress and lock in a place in the best 22. Weller, or possibly Langdon, may get an opportunity due to Ballantyne being injured, and can use that to build a case for "next in line".

Shaddup. Go and watch badminton !!!
After putting on paper , you are right I am wrong .

My guess best 23 vs bulldog.

Pav Tab Griff clarke
Ballas Walters
Mundy, fyfe ,gu, suban, D.Pearce, barlow
Sheridan,sutty ,hills ,ibbo,Johnson, Dawson.C.Pearce , Alex sigvani, Langdon, Weller.mayne

You don't go to the theatre to see the understudy, though. You don't go to see ACDC for the support bands. Sandi can sign as many autographs as he likes when he's retired in a year or two's time. They'll be able to stop him on his giant ride-on mower when he's back working for this dad in Mt Barker.
Thank you. Very well balanced and reasoned point of view. I was not looking for a fight but an explanation. I don't necessarily agree with the approach my club took last week. I went to the game and I would have liked to see him play but he didn't. I was in the main section of the crowd and didn't see him at all. Here they will be talking about the game Sandilands didn't play long after the current hierarchy at Fremantle is long gone. It could be interpreted as an insult.

All the players had to go to designated spots for signing stuff and selfies but Fyfey was first up the race as I was at the ending the race and saw him.

Agree with most of what you are saying. Going on past seasons, we will see the first round team plus 2 extras play in the final scratchie.

I feel that Weller has moved to position 22/23 in our line up, something that pleases me because I think he can make a difference in the forward line due to his good kicking skills (depth) and his pressure acts which look Mayne like.

As I have said in a couple of forums I am scratching my head as to why Crozier is not in this position as I would have thought he could have made an even bigger difference in the forward line, something went wrong with his preseason?

Think Langdon will get some chances as the season progresses but less so for Blakely unless specific players are injured such as Neale, Fyfe or Mundy. He is just not as versatile as Weller and Langdon but still a player of the future.

Sandi was just inside the players race at a table.

I think A Pearce will be competing more with Taberner.
Pearce has trained all Summer as a defender and his kicking for goal isn't that great so can't see him competing with Taberner at all. RTB might have made the comment about Pearce being in best 22 to motivate one of the other defenders.

Surely match committee are hoping for a round 1 back line of:

Sutcliffe Dawson Ibbo
Pearce Johnson Spurr

Defensive wing man: Sheridan

Form and injury permitting of course. Sutcliffe may be in the firing line, hasn't been great with his disposal so far.
Sutcliffe's disposal in Mandurah was very good.

C. Pearce is an interesting inclusion, i don't really see him being best 22 week 1. Also where is Neale?

Sorry, correct best 23 C.Pearce been replace by Neale . so end up either Weller or Langdon will be omit round one for best 22.

It could be interpreted that way if people wanted to make a sore point about it but I think most will see the cold-blooded decision made for the sake of the season.

If we don't win a premiership before sandi retires, that could have been the game that made him feel better about it.

had a look at radelaide's board to see if I could pick up any interesting insights to the game from the opposition. Didn't realise they had "technically won" the game or that we were full strength?? Sounded a bit Richmondesque when last year the tigers had the game won, but somehow, Houli-related, we walked away with the undeserved win.

Saw some good stats though that we top the table (in recent years) for being winners having less scoring shots than the opposition (4 from 4 last year). That combined with winning most of the close games is possibly why some of the other teams' supporters often underrate our team despite our recent win/loss record.

- Taberner. He is just so frustratingly great to watch when he gets going only to be let down by fundamental errors. He seems to play better when Pav isn't around too...

I am not sure he plays better when Pav isn't around, but he's certainly involved more, for the obvious reason that we tend to kick it to Pav when Pav is playing.
