Pretty sure Grimley kicked 4. Really impressive today, beat Boomer Harvey out in a 1 on 1 contested situation, set up a goal or two as well. Stratton took a good grab and slotted a goal. Duryea kicked a beauty from around 50. Hale, Franklin and Gunston all involved in a lot of scoring. Birchall kicked a good snap. Spangher is pretty serviceable, gets a fist to everything. Cheney busted through a massive pack at one stage and hit Buddy on the chest, was Sam Mitchell like the way he did it.

We had a very tall forward line at times and it seemed to work. Franklin, Grimley, Hale & Gunston were in their all together at times.

Gibbo got bashed. Went back with the flight and smashed into the post, then tackled Petrie I think and got hit pretty hard. He just looked winded to me or possibly got hit the nuts.

Nah looked a bit more serious than that, went off at half time and didnt come out of the rioms until the last quarter. Looked very sore when he was walking along the boundary line back to the interchange.

I went. Got drenched and came away thinking we have (thankfully) timed the run into the Rd 1 beautifully. We will be ready to go.

Not having seen Shiels play all pre-season I thought he was exceptional. Seems to be running well and found the ball with ease.

Breust and Gunston got warm unlike previous outings, and that was encouraging.

Hale looked a million dollars. Played well and is set for another big year as No 1 ruck.

Sadly for Bailey, he is 3rd in line. Clearly. He did fairly well in the centre but he wasn't up against much at all. Goldstein is struggling and he was trounced I thought. The other ruck they had (Currie) looked more competitive.

The midfielders are all primed to go. The fitness staff have timed the group's load to perfection. The touch has also arrived just in time for round 1. We were very crisp and clean in close. Saw Lewis up close and he looks lean and mean.

Burgoyne got a good run through the middle and moved very well. Very encouraging.

The backline worked well together. Spangher again very serviceable. He would be giving the coaches a headache because he is banging down the door for selection in Round 1.

Hill is a lock for selection. He has improved out of sight in one season. His body shape is amazing.

Grimley fed on the carcass a bit at the end, but it will do his confidence a world of good. He could be the surprise packet this year. At the game, it reminded a lot of the year when Suckling broke through to become a regularly. He has a lot of competition for a possie, but he is doing everything right at the moment. I actually started to thinking whether he could become a wingman. He'd be damaging with his run.

Ellis was okay, but for mine - he has a bit of ground to make up.

Most of the others were as you would expect. I had to leave early and thank god for that because the rain started to come down real hard.

We put a space in them in the second quarter and that was against a very very strong wind as the rain came. The 3rd Qrt was therefore no surprise with the goal avalanche. And it was party time thereafter.

Saw Gibbo run into the post but didn't catch the supposed rib injury. Anyone got any more info on this

If anyone has a question, I will try as best I can.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the updates guys, every post that i've got around to reading on my phone, in a very busy day has been greatly appreciated!!

And yes very happy with the strong win by the boys in such difficult conditions...I'm little bit more optimistic now for round one and the rest of the year......Yes optimistic even though it was just a practise game, and having Roughy,Ciryl,Lake... and who else didn't play apart from Whitecross and Suckling??

Also just heard of the clash involving Hale does anyone think he'll be in trouble???

Gibson ribs. Happened in a marking contest. Reckon he copped a knee. Looked in some genuine pain going up the race gasping pretty badly. If it is bruising not broken he has a couple of weeks to come good so is a chance for round 1. But didnt look great.

Just saw the Seven news and they showed some footage of the game.
Gibbo did look like he was just winded, but it could be ribs.
The incident with Hale did look like a clash of heads, the footage wasn't great and was taken from a bad angle and there were quite a few players in the way. It's highly unlikely anyother vision is available. They both appeared to go in low and heads clashed. If the MRP go just by that footage he should be fine. Hang on a sec, he plays for the Hawks, so he'll cop weeks...

I think it will come down to the quality of the video of the game. Was hard to tell if he hit the kangas player in the head or not - I suspect he did. But no report and it looked accidental rather than deliberate. But if he made contact to the head it will be looked at. I mean the most stupid thing about the system is that no-one has any idea if he will go or not.

Yes, I just saw the report on the AFL site.
There was a number of these front-on-type of frees paid and I wouldn't have thought his was any worse than others that were paid. Can't remember thinking "oh that isn't good". One of the North blokes also got reported for this. I think the Umps are sending a signal with this before the season opener.

Without seeing any TV vision I would be surprised if either got suspended.

But didn't really commit to anything when asked about if Hodge, Rioli and Lake would return for round 1 :(

Sounds like a Petrie knee. He is quite the bloke for kneeing. Has form in this regard.
