Was at the game and am much more optimistic about sucklings replacement than was last week, duryea has serious potential and talent imo, cool in the clinches and has a thumping left foot on him which to me appears not much effort either, the goal he kicked in the 3rd admittedly with a gale behind him he practically stabbed at it and it sailed through post high from 52-53m out, hill just oozes class, is surely an absolute certainty to be starting round 1, can just see him cutting the cats apart with relentless run and speed, has so many more strings to his bow than young you cant even compare the two really. Liked grimley as well, its been a long 4 years but it could very well be worth the wait because this guy could be anything, has similar agility to buddy and is looking more and more confident with each match he plays with the big boys. We look bigger across the shoulders and through the core and that includes some of the young guys, cant see the cats being too big and strong for us tbh. Schoey looks significantly bigger up close, has put on a good 4-5kgs maybe more i would think. We have options for every position now, if gibson doesnt play round 1 spangher will do a decent job imo, has a big mature body and wont get outbodied too often, he is the sort of guy who does the basics right and you need that sort of player in your team, overall we made a statement to the cats and gave them something to think about.
Yes I walked away very confident that we are ready for the season to start. That was the major query I had heading to the game today. We knew the Kangas were undermanned but i wanted to see the skills and setups. And they delivered.

I went to see them against the Dogs and you could see we were still building on the fitness base and weeks 1 & 2 games were treated pretty much as match condition. Last week against Richmond was more serious and today even better again.

Bring on the pussies :)

I thought Poppy was good today, like a terrier around the contest. And loved how he got stuck into about three North players when Buddy was pushed into the fence. Small in stature but big heart.

Video of Hale's report. It's obscured by other players, but it just looks like they're going in low for the ball and Adams comes off second best.

Re: Hale

It appears via that video that Hale was lower & first to the ball & that the other player made a full & speedy recovery; however, Hale was definitely wearing a Hawthorn guernsey, so I'd expect about 3 weeks, reduced to 2 weeks with a guilty plea...

No case to answer.

Looks like an accidental head clash to me.

EDIT: Adams does have a penchant for the extraction of milk.

What is that supposed to mean?

Why is that video called Leigh Adams' courage? Hale was just as courageous and managed to win the contest. Considering it was a clash of heads they both could have been awarded a free kick for head-high contact.

Well done Hale. There was no malice, complete intent for the ball. Played it strong.

Interesting to note, not one North player remonstrated with Hale after the incident. This fact convinces me it must have been accidental head contact.
I agree - but we both know that means nothing come Monday night.

I'm half expecting Lewis or Buddy to cop weeks in our next intra-club match...

I was 20Ms away from that and it was play on, great courage by both players, was just play on.

The guy who hit Gunston high after that mad 4 effort run was the only dodgy incident all day and im prepared to call no harm no foul on that.

I thought the same thing. But North have to hang their hat on something. Their list is quite poor.......Majik Daw being a prime example of their blind faith. I have time for Ziebell and Swallow. The rest of their midfield core are only rated by North supporters - not anyone else in the AFL.

Probably because it comes from the Kangaroos website

I agree. No probs here. This should get thrown out at review.

Just next time call it David Hale courage.;)

The umpiring all pre season has been super soft, there was a bunch of sotfies each way today, lets hope they make us earn them once the real stuff starts.

Dont get dragged into those questionng Adams courage.

I went to the game as a neutral supporter today .. Got rained out in the last quarter ! lol ! Very impressed with the hawks overall, in particular Puopolo, Mitchell and Franklin. North had no answer in defence to stop Hale and Lance. Loved the play of Mitchell in the middle also ! Doesn't panic and very composed and seems to have all the time in the world.....

It seemed in the 2nd half the hawks cleared the ball from the centre almost at will ! No contest....

Only North Highlight was Majac Daw's Big Mark !

To think rioli and lake will be back soon is scary...

good luck

Were you the bloke walking around in a Bulldogs Polo and wearing a Bulldogs cap screaming something about Buddy's 13 against the Kangas last year?;)

Last replay you actually see that half is first to the ball, and is lower

Effectively, Adams headbutts hale

5 weeks I'd say (afl logic)

It isn't boxing
You can't punish a player for being taller and heavier (although the AFL tries to)

Hale did everything to get low, and was first to the ball, and, looking at the footage, he should have received the free

Read his posts, he is not claiming otherwise..

Except that Hale should have received the free, where are you pulling that from?

He's a very courageous player, so this is more to do with another example of that fact.

Very underrated player. I love the bloke.

I think you Mis-understood my response
I meant its called Leigh Adams courage because its a Kangaroos production, that's all
