Is it going to be televised at all? :)

The game against Richmond two years ago was, you'd think it would have to be to promote the game.

I wonder just how much of an all stars team it will be?

Could be powerful as f**k

Franklin, Wingard, Jetta, Hill, Hill, Ryder, Bennell, Martin, Burgoyne, Christensen

Main issue will be whether Port and Sydney risk Ryder and Franklin - if not it'll be a bit of a midget crew

EDIT: forgot Rioli, Yarran, Varcoe, Pearce,

They smashed Richmond by 50 points, so it wouldn't be surprising if they had a similar result against us.

Do we have to send any of our indigenous players to play in their team?

I would go with this team for the all stars game:

Bennell Emac Powell
Shep Brown Duggan

Lucas Priddis Gaff

Wellingham Mcinnes Tunbridge
Cripps JK Karpany

Ruck: Sinclair Sheed Mcginnity ( tagging i guess)

Bench: Nic Nat, Waterman, College, Butler

The Carlton game i would add some more experience in but rest Emac, Priddis, Nic Nat

Bennell Brown Mcgovern
Shep Schofield Hurn

Rosa Yeo Gaff

Masten Mcinnes Wellingham
Newman JK Lecras

Ruck: Lycett Shuey Sheed

Bench: Sinclair, Waterman, Hill , Butler

I would want to give everyone a game. You wouldn't want to give a game to guys like Cavka, Adamson, Main, Barrass, Lamb and Nelson? I think you are allowed 26 in the NAB Cup so you could add those guys into the squads you've listed pretty easily.

Ah ok didn't know you could have 26. I would spread those out you mentioned over the remaining 2 games. Lamb might not be ready though.

More games the better, no matter the opposition or level of competitiveness.

Need the games to further implement the gameplan, get miles into the legs and allow the team to gel.

Results are unimportant, but we'll need to be sure not to lapse into bad habits if the opposition don't put up much of a fight as we saw last year.

Really surprised that we've got the game against the All Stars, but at least we got it instead of Freo and surely an extra pre-season game won't hurt (hopefully no injuries). I can see Bennell and Wellingham being selected by the All Stars and wating to play for them, since you don't get to play for an indigenous team too often.

Against Carlton i would like to see something close to this. Assuming the format of 26 players per team is the same this year.
FB B Waters E Mckenzie J Nelson
HB L Duggan M Brown S Hurn
C M Karpany D Sheed W Maginness
HF T Lamb J Kennedy J Darling if fit
FF M Newman J Mcgovern S Wellingham
FOL Nicnat L Shuey E Yeo
I/C W Schofield S Lycett B Sheppard M Rosa A Gaff D Cavka
SUBS M Lecras C Adamson

Spot on. Even if we get flogged if some of our new players can take something away from it and get some experience it's all for the best

Who will be the KPPs for the indigenous team? I can only think of Franklin.
In the ruck they could use Ryder and then Griffin from Fremantle.
Key forwards may be A Goodes, Liam Jones and Andrew Walker.
Defenders could be Michael Johnson and Steven May although they probably are under sized.

So we've got the following four games:

Allstars (Leederville Oval) - 6:10pm, Friday 20 February

Carlton (Mandurah) - 4:10pm, Friday 27 February

Port (Norwood Oval) - 1:40pm(WST), Sunday 8 March (this one not televised, although Port may put it on their website)

Fremantle (Subiaco) - 4:10pm, Sunday 22 March

This is ahead of our season opener against the Doggies on Saturday 4 April.

If we're playing 26 per game (I think that's how it works, 6 on the bench and two subs), then that means everyone gets 2.25 games on average.

So perhaps 20 players would play three games, around 18 two games and 8 just the one game. Or perhaps they'd take a completely different approach. I think they should definitely give everyone at least one game, especially considering we have the four practice matches. You'd think we'd need to play our best team against Freo, considering it's the only game in the month before the season opener.

What approach do you think we should take with player management?

What players are you most looking forward to seeing? For me it's Hotline, Duggan, Sheed, Wellingham, Lucas, Brophy and Cavka.
Who the hell is hotline?

Surely Franklin wouldn't play. Million dollar tool like that coming all the way over here for a low key scratch match.

Quick trip back home for a bender before the season starts. Could team up with Harley Bennell and make a trip to Mandurah to get into a bit of a smash

I wonder how our 'lack of pace' will be exposed by the All stars?
Good thing A Selwood is in the coaching team. He'll be able to imbue our youngsters with some valuable advice on chasing down quick indigenous players.

Personally i can't wait to see all our B-siders and draftees in action. We're generally pretty conservative when it comes to exposing youth at the top level during the season so the nab could be the only real look at Adamson, Lamb, Duggan, Cavka, Nelson, and Waterman we get for a while.
