hoping to see lamb, nelson and mcinnes getting another good look and hoping simpson will back some younger players if they're ready to go. hill, mcginnity, hutch etc are depth, ideally out of the team unless injuries hit.

surely he and lucas wont make the cut on sunday. Maybe hill with them.
Lucas and Hill are also named on the extended bench for East Perth so may drop out, McGinnity however is not, so he'll definitely play.

Boggles my mind that he's playing, especially if it's in a similar role to Port where he was hopelessly out of his depth.

Port were smart to make him one out at FF, don't think he won a single contest.

It just beggars belief that we play Mcginnity at all. He is in the team for depth so basically as far as I'm concerned when enough guys are injured then and only then he gets a Guernsey - we should try to blood new guys and get as many games as possible into new guys.
it's amazing that he has managed to stretch his afl career as long as he has.

Probably because he can play in various positions and tag and has pace - so when we have had injury riddled seasons we can put him in to cover. Certainly aint because hes likely to breakout any time soon

We can get away without Schofield for round 1 but we will need him round 2 v Carlton. Hope they give him a game in the WAFL next weekend before we play if he is indeed back in full training next week.

Yeah, we certainly need him back soon, but I think the first 3 rounds we're ok - Bulldogs we know are very short up front.

Carlton:
No Kruezer
Combination of Casboult/Henderson/Jones as their talls. Sure we'd like to have Schoey to really nullify them, but I'd be pretty confident Gov and Brown with 1 other medium def could handle them.

Even Freo are a bit light with big forward, Brown on Pav, medium def on Mayne and then Gov can play floating defender or mind the ruckman.
Even if they play Apeness I doubt he'll cause issues.

Adelaide is where we'll be needing Schoey more.

We have always been very top heavy down back so it will be interesting to see how we go with more runners.

So if brown goes down do we forfeit the season?

We'd probably have to play both McInnes & Gov down back in that scenario, I'd say we'd definitely finish low on the ladder and may as well get games into younger players like Powell at that point.

On a related note, anyone else remember the debate around trading Brown a couple of years back? I know we'd have picked up another defender, but probably not one who's any better than Brown. Glad we held onto him in the end.
