The long wait is over with just over 2 hours to the game!!!!!

Things to look out for:
- Andersons dash out of defence
- Paul Bower on Adam Goodes
- Kane Lucas and Davies on debut
- Browne trying to step up in Armfields absence
- Mcleans debut
- Hendersons role
- Kreuzers Role
- Hampson up forward
-Yarran and Garlett combination
- Robbo to f**k up a Swan

With the team we have in (missing about 5 Best 22 players) and without Bradshaw and White, we should be able to get the points.

Hopefully we have no long patches where we find it hard to score, but it would be expected being the first game with a new forward line.

I would almost say we would be better to lose this week and play the Lions at Visy next week apposed to risking playing on the Ethihad turf (pretty damning considering one is an official AFT ground and the other a VFL/practice turf ............

As for the game itself

I am obviously biased, but I can't see Carlton loosing this one ..............

The Swans play a very congested style of football with A LOT of ruck competitions and clearances. That worked great when they had a A-grade ruckman in Jolly, but with Seaby (a C grader at best who couldn't get a ruck spot ahead of NitNat (a raw 18/19 yr old) or Lynch (a KPF come ruckman) when Cox went down injured last year) I can't see them dominating the clearances this year. Our ruck stocks also look awesome with Kreuzer, Hampson, Warnock and Jacobs all playingn (Prob Warnock being subbed out for Jacobs at half time IMO)

Carlton's main quality players out are Murphy and Waite, while the Swans have left out Bradshaw, O'Keefe, Shaw, White and Vezpremi (just to name a few) so while people will say Carlton lacks goal scoring power I don't see much in the Sydney team.

I think Carlton will dominate the midfield with Mclean and Hadley feeding Judd (he needs a good workout considering he is sitting out the first 3 rd's) and Gibbs, along with Simpson, Carazzo and the other usual suspects through the midfield. Our backline is almost at full strength (Russel, Thornton, Bower, Jamison, AJ who is more of a tagger but generally listed in the backman) with only Armfield (small defender) out, but Browne can play a similar role, and it will be a good chance to see how our new forward line structure will work.

Think it will be a good win for Carlton.

29 is old?

It is pretty regular for us to leave guys out of the team, especally ones that are not competiting for a top 22 spot (ie. they are a certain starter). In the pre-season at least.

White and Bradshaw have minor injuries / recovering from surgery. Whilst they are training, we restrict players until they reach a certain criteria that allows them to play.

Bradshaw is the only player on our injury list as at 18/2/10.

Good luck guys. I don't care so much about the result, just excited to see the new boys Sydney have and perhaps even a different gameplan to suit.

In 2010, Sydney have A LOT more pace than they did in 09. So the gameplan will be interesting.

Seems Simpson will be the 3rd player that misses out, along with Ellard and Ohailpin.
Interestingly Wiggins may line up, but according to reports is still struggling with injury.

Won't be too worried about the result, no matter what the score is I won't change my expectations for the team during the NAB cup. The thing I really look for is the improvements in individuals and seeing what they'll bring to the team for the season. Will be paying extra attention to Henderson, Warnock, Hampson, Yarran, Garlett, Browne, Joseph, McLean, Robinson and Gibbs.

Edit: Add Grigg to the top of that list, tipping a huge year for him.

Really want to see the Kreuzer/Henderson duo trialled at FF/CHF for at least a quarter, with O'hAilpin in the mix too. Still not convinced about Fisher and unless he kicks multiple goals early id like to see him subbed at half time.

I'm looking forward to finally seeing 206 in action. If he can kick arse the ruck that leaves Kruezer to play.....well.......were ever he wants.

I agree Toad. He was so impressive in the intra club game a week ago, it really did look like he had a heap to prove. Reckon the Swans will have a tough time of it coping with our 4 ruckmen, all of whom are 200cm+
