The swans are good enough to make finals, but i don't think many teams have finished minor premiers copping a Grand Final smashing the year prior. That and while minor as they've prepared for the role for ages they're going through a coaching transition

Anyways i hardly ever do these because if you have an incorrect opinion on something on here, people love to dig up old posts and call you stupid for making a prediction, but i'll have a go. I've kind of given it not a lot of thought

1 Geelong
2 GWS
3 Brisbane
4 Port
5 Dogs
6 Hawks
7 Fremantle
8 Adelaide
9 Gold Coast
10 Collingwood
11 Melbourne
12 Carlton
13 Sydney
14 Saints
15 North
16 Bombers
17 West Coast
18 Richmond

Yeah I reckon the GF loss could impact the swans. Plus Longmire about to depart may make them a bit unstable.

I reckon our boys are the hardest to predict for next year - could see us finishing anywhere from 4-16.

Anyways here's my guess

Bris
Hawks
GWS
Blues
Cats
Pies
Freo
Sydney
------------
Crows
GC
Melb
Power
Dogs
Saints
Dons
Norf
Eagles
Tigers

True... but pre pre-season trials, its only for shytes and goggles.

The serious predictions will start late February some-time.

I reckon the Blues are going to get it together this year. I also think the Swans and Geelong will slide. But honestly I have NFI.

1. Blues
2. Port
3. Brisbane
4. Hawks
5. GWS
6. Freo
7. Crows
8. Dees

9. Swans
10. Cats
11. Suns
12. Pies
13. North
14. Dogs
15. West Coast
16. Bombers
17. Saints
18. Richmond

Wouldn’t be shocked if we stink it up this year and finish bottom 4:

GWS
Fremantle
Hawthorn
Carlton
Adelaide
Geelong

Bulldogs
Sydney
Gold Coast
Port Adelaide
St Kilda
West Coast
North
Melbourne
Essendon

I know it's fairly standard to name your team in the 8, but why do you believe the Saints will get there?

And it's fair to point out that I named the Dees in my 8. I really do believe they will get there if they really do make meaningful changes to the game plan as I feel we do have the talent. I just don't see the same talent for the Saints.

One of the strongest defences in the AFL

Wilkie, Sinclair and NWM are genuine AA calibre.

Midfield has been weak but now we have the Macrae addition and another year into pou and Garcia (either could be anything). Depth is very good with Clark, Jones, Dow and Windhager.

Steele and Macrae are AA with good seasons. Neither have injury concerns. Marshall is a top 5 ruck.

Leaves the forward line. It's a work in progress but the talent is there. On paper it should be one of the better forward lines. Harvey not coaching them will help. Bolton has taken over. It will improve.

So the way i see it, defence is strong, midfield is finally after many years starting to look like a serious midfield. Outside run is just about the best in the the league. Forwards are holding the team back but i believe! :)

I'm liking that order.
I especially like C-woods at 9, hopefully missing finals by 0.001%

NFI. It's too close these days to honestly predict anything right. So many teams could make it. Realistically only 2 maybe 3 teams can't make the 8. The rest are a genuine threat. The Pies could go either way. With the ageing list it could all fall apart or with the quality on their list i can see them bouncing back too. Blues are a tease, same with Suns. Both have promised a lot but delivered F* all but you can't help but be sucked in with their lists. Bombers and Crows surely get it right at some point? Kangas and WCE will improve you'd think and then you have the strong interstate lists barring major injuries will surely be at the pointy end. I'd say we are in the middle somewhere but could elevate if all our stars are fit and firing but can also see another poor year with a gameplan change and players potentially not buying in.

Lions (certainties)
Dockers (certainties)
Giants (certainties)
Swans (a lot would have to go wrong but mental scars from the GF is the unknown factor)
Hawks (looks red hot but young sides can have a down year, but still rate them highly)
Power (such a strong midfield it's hard to see them dipping, but coaching question marks and can they kick enough goals? Houston is a big loss)
Blues (Surely they make it this year and push hard, but they let you down so many times that it's hard to fully trust)
Crows (I predicted a big rise last year, so i feel the big jump is coming, but still a few question marks but forwardline looks strong and Thilthope looks ready and ANB will be a huge bonus)

Cats (always there abouts unfortunately and hard to beat at home)
Suns (we know the list is good enough but can they win away? If that clicks then i can see them making a huge leap, but can't trust)
Dogs (don't rate Bevo that highly, and the JUH saga has the potential to derail. Still a list that is strong enough to compete though so in the mix for the 8)
Demons (my heart says we are in the mix, but my head says too many other teams look way stronger)
Pies (Some fantastic pick ups in the last year or so, but the list age will hurt them in regards to injuries and form surely, still a dangerous unknown)
Bombers (I just can't bring myself to put them any higher. At times last two year they looked like finalists, but disintegrated badly. Another team hard to trust but can't fully discount)
Kangas (too much young talent coming through to not think a rise won't happen soon. Should win more games and wouldn't be surprised to see them in the 8 at some stage. The backline still a major issue though)
Saints (meh. Lyon is stuck in the Goody defence first mode with a worse list than ours. I can't see it)
Eagles (Reid looks unbelievable and will probably lift them to more wins than expected. But along with Tigers, i just can't see either making finals)
Tigers (will probably be better than most expect, but you just can't put them any higher with the way they've cut their list and the constant injuries to senior players. Looks a lock for wooden spoon)
