Great post Lecras

Talking up this kid so he has a shocker on the weekend :thumbsu:
lol, and theres quite a few superstitious supporters from both Dockers and Eagles fans :)

But this year is the year the hype begins around Fyfe and the media and umpires become more aware of him. In 2012, Fyfe will poll a lot more votes - not because of a drastic improvement, but because the umpires will catch up with the media attention, and Fyfe will be at the forefront of their minds each time they have Fremantle.

He probably is top 5 in the AFL this year, but no doubt Fyfe will have slipped under the radar of a few umps when he was BOG, especially early in the season.

This is not a stupid call. He is has been the best player this year for Fremantle. Every game they have won he would be in the votes. They have won 9 games this year. If he were to poll 1-2 votes a game, he would be on about 15-18 votes with 6 games to go. He may not win it, but top 10 is certainly a possibilty.

I understand you don't win Brownlows on supercoach points, but the champion data brownlow predictor has proven to be pretty acurate I think.

In the matches they have won, he has scored 117, 139, 164, 129, 103, 89, 125, 116, 138. He has averaged 26 disposals, 5 marks, 4 tackles, and a goal a game. At $34, he is certainly worth putting $10 on.

Yep that's how it works.
Probably starting to poll a few votes now but the umps will have missed him earier in the year until the media noise about him attracted their attention.

1. supercoach points mean bugger all
2. good supercoach numbers but mean nothing without comparison to other players. for example, took a look at marc murphy who has had scores of 107,133,79,111,137,110,90,145,147,127,122,138,93,118,103,113 in 2011.
4. Im sure players like pendles, thomas, ablett have similar if not better numbers.
3. Will sandilands take a fair few votes off him in the early part of the season? pav? Mundy? Not sure fyfe has been good enough to continully get enough 2 and 3 votes.

Interesting year, If Freo dont make the 8 then history is against him and he wont even finish top 3. Judd has murph this year. Pendles has thomas killing it every week as well as cloke, swan earlier in the season. No Ablett at Geelong and someones gotta get a few votes. Cox is killing it

On the subject of brownlows - and Judd in particular. Have you noticed when the name of Judd is mentioned in a telecast that the commentators - especially that mealy mouthed twerp Walls go all worshipful and starry eyed?

It reminds me of a movie called 'Blazing Saddles' where the new black sheriff is trying to get the townsfolk onside and he says - 'You'd do it for Randolf Scott' (he was a big name cowboy actor in early Hollywood days) and the whole town goes into this sort of trance of adoration. As those who haven't seen it may guess they townsfolk are as thick as two short planks - well so are the commentators, perfect match.

Wait until he finally get's tagged this week ....

Who is going to tag him?

Roos pointed out that Syney used four different players on him with no affect because he's too versatile to tag.

Murphy should poll better than Judd. Big chance to take the Charlie home. Not so sure on Fyfe as I haven't watched a lot of him. But has he played well in all of Freo's wins? Has he played VERY well in their losses? Because that is what Murphy has been doing, and that is why I think he will take it home

I'm in the same boat though whenever i have seen him play, wow.. Theres alot to like! I'm not sure how well he has played in other loses but against the eagles, he was a clear, VERY CLEAR standout for freo. I think he also kicked that freakish goal against us.

The kid can't be tagged. Sure the opposition can put there best tagger on him in the midfield. Unfortunately for everyone else he is one of the best contested marks in the comp and at 191cm all he has to do is sit in the forward line and play almost as a key forward.

The charlie is no longer what it was. The MVP award has far more currency as the most significant award for an individual in the game and I would say the coaches award will also overtake the brownlow soon. The Brownlow, unfortunately has become either the umpires pet award, or the award for the person who should have won the Brownlow in the last couple of years, but wasn't the umpires pet.

It's a bit early for Fyfe, but he will probably pick up a few big gongs along the way.
