AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
To be honest that segment on th footy show was embarrassing for the Melbourne Players.
They get paid to play footy, not ring up people begging for money.
The players should not be put in that type of position, Melbourne supporters get off your ass and support your club and stop embarrassing your players.
Some fair points in this post.. Not sure if it is begging for money though. Clubs have been using this method for years to get members.. nothing new in this. I actually think that manning the phones is a reasonable expectation of a player. Imagine a young kid ringing up and talking to White, Robertson etc... I recon that this is what footy is all about, and with the corporate nature of the game these days, what footy is sadly lacking..
Nathan jones is a kid, l'd like to see you get up and speak eloquently as newman intimidates you with smartarse comments, me thinks you'd frickin' shyte yourself, you idiot
Gun player, nervous 20 year old doing his part to promote the club, i think we can give him a break.
Was thinking the exact same thing but good on him for getting up there and reading the letter.
The AFL need to scrap the minimum salary cap payments so clubs like Melbourne can just pay the players what the club can afford and not go into debt.

WELL HE NEVER LOOKED LIKE HE WAS GOING TO CRY LIKE SOME EX PLAYERS I HAVE SEEN WHEN THEY TALK
If they did, your mob would be playing a lot Less games in Tassie. Short memory.
FWIW I find Jones' 24 touches, 4 goals and six tackles against Brisbane of more interest.[/QUOTE]
Exactly, a post up about his performance on TFS rather than his efforts on field. The Dees are having a shocker but Jonsey never gives up, puts his head over the ball and kicks arse.
If Daisy Thomas had stats like that on the weekend there would have been 100 new threads in the first hour after the game.

Thomas doesn't turn it over like Jones who still has a long way to go as far as his decision making goes.

Thomas and Jones have the same disposal efficiency this year at 68% - however dale is more consistent with his disposal when compared to Jones

His decision making and kicking have been down this year but I think its more a symptom of the team play. We aren't running hard, protecting his back and creating enough options for him and he's feeling the pressure. His role is to get in there and get the ball out, tackle hard and pass off to to a silkier player. He's not going to create all the plays alone.
Anyway, not saying he's better than Thomas, more that this is the first comment I've seen on the main board about Jones, and its about a stint on TFS when this week his game was a more interesting topic.
I've love to see you up on stage hero, let's see how you go talking in front of a large television audienceSorry demons fans - but geez the guy sounded like dope on tfs!!
I shall now dub him Nathan "Monotone" Jones
either that or 'Tone Jones
