And to think Archer only has 15 years (life) experience on him!

Well done to the kid, would love to see some of the heroes that bag him out on here do the same when they were 19.

Oh wait... They never possessed the talent this kid has in his left hand to ever find themselves in such a position.
Unfortunate.

Some people are either confident in front of the camera or they are not, I doubt 15 years will make much of a difference. He will learn to not look like a bunny caught in the high beams but doubt he will ever be one of those confident personalities.

The difference is Jonesy isn't trying to make a career out of the media unlike Archer. The kid is a gun, who gives a shit whether his public speaking skills are up standards, they don't have be. He'll do his talking on the footy field.

for those having a crack at me - let me answer some of the criticism

1) I never bagged him as a person - just saying he wasn't a very good speaker - 2 or 3 posts down i commended him for having a crack

2) Talent - no i don't have the afl talent of n jones - never said i did

3) I'd crap myself up there - ahh no i wouldn't - I dig public speaking - always had (even at 19)

I liked him. Would have taken some courage to get up there after the way Sam was treating him. Brave man for doing so.... all he had to do was end his reading of the letter with something like "I'm sam newman and i hate women" (with a nice smile).

He's 20 years old, he will be fine.

Good luck on the weekend dees.

How many times have you done it on national television in front of over a million people?

have done it a few times in front of a few thousand (live audience) - so think a few hundred in tv studio wouldn't be that hard!!

just a reminder - you don't see the million people

nice - you read me like an open book!!

Sharpie - you're a dead set flog.

Your vituperative comments reflect someone who supports a franchise that could never call itself a football club.

My footy club is dying an agonisingly slow death; our supporter base is shrinking by the minute.

This kid is keeping my football club alive. The way he plays footy while everything is crumbling around him brings tears to my eyes.

He may not be the most natural media performer but he's the only player at my club that's anywhere near captaincy material at the moment. He desperately needs the experience, and I've got faith that he'll get better.

So pull yer head in, sunshine.

look who used a big word - kudos to you

i didn't attack his courage, i didn't attack his intentions, i didn't attack his footballing ability - nor what he is doing for the demons - so maybe you better learn to read what is written as opposed to the angry diatribe you came up with

i merely attacked his ability to talk! you know - the way we laughed about sticks and suma - but oh - wait - let's not laugh about jones

OK Sharpie, fair play to you. Some of us Demons are a mite touchy due to the seemingly insignificant fact that our club has turned to shit.

I'm just sick of copping crap from opposition supporters just because the MFC is simply not popular enough. Every club has its fairweather supporters, but we're a sitting target because we haven't got a thing. We don't even own our flags!

All I'm saying is give the Jones boy a chance. He's the only positive we have.

did not have a very good game against Fremantle, maybe he should have stayed off the footy show, poor bloke he cant win :p

Admittedly he had a very good and irritating tagger on him in the form of Ryan Crowley, but while Jonesy went quiet, Bruce and McLean went nuts in the midfield in that second half.

He's having a bit of a weird season but he should bounce back, good players do that:thumbsu:
