I went to school with Grimley and im still baffled that he's on an AFL list. I personally just dont see him become an A-Grade player... I think he's a bit unco and is a project player that may never gel to the game, he's a basketballer and his very light framed.

I played footy at school with luke ball and jobe watson, both were in year 10 when i was in year 12 and getting 1st games. i thought ball was a freak and deserved his spot but thought watson was the shittest player in the world, and the only reason he got games was because of his old man. now i look back and say **** i was wrong

Impatience? 6th in line project ruckman who's already been here 18 months!

Apart from the fact that I don't ever envisage him in the ruck - just read what you posted back to yourself, speak it back to yourself.

Think about it for a second.

They are not all Chris Judd's mate.

We won't see the best of Grimley for ANOTHER five years.

Hold your skates.

Right... And how quickly should a second round pick project ruckman/ key position player develop? How quick should any draft pick develop? How do you know that the club isn't absolutely thrilled with his development?

Yes- IMPATIENT.

Modern world... Now now now... Quick quick quick... I want I want I want...

Sorry, I should have included [sarcasm][/sarcasm] brackets.

Pick 42 in 2009 National draft, we took Sam Grimley at pick 39. I know it is to early to tell or cast judgement but I thought at the time Vardy was a good player to let slip, as he was touted as the second best ruckman behind Big Max Gawn. I hope I am proven wrong but Grimley will have to be quite good to be better than Vardy on his last 2 games he has played as I can't see Hawkins getting back in the side to replace him.

Vardy looks a real prospect and maybe the new sub rule suits his style, something not considered back in 2009; as it was not something we thought would be introduced 2yrs down the track.

Sack Pelchen!

Oh...

Might be handy now, unfortunately. Quiet fourth game from Vardy but his ruck work is impressive.

Did Vardy play last night?

I was anticpating the next Dean Cox, rather than some anonymous deer paling in the lights when the pressure was on.

Hale will be > Vardy at least until Grimley is ready. That's when this discussion might start getting relevant.

Then I guess you don't have a great sense of what to expect, or how to read the media. And maybe you even missed his goal in the first quarter. Ruckmen are a lottery at best - and recent history actually suggests that sides might be just as better off poaching a developed one from another club (as we did with Ottens, andf then suffered with Mumford. I'm not surprised that clubs often lay off potential ruck draft prospects. Vardy has a 50/50 chance to be a decent ruckman at AFL level which, in his second year, isn't such a bad result for the Cats. He's showing enough right now to prove he has a future. From an outsider's perspective, Hale now obviously holds increased importance for the Hawks. If he can find form, things could still go well for you.
