Christian Wood cannot play defence for love nor money. Vincent and Prince are the only two decent players they brought in the off season, but that won't cover their over roster deficiencies and an ordinary coach.

Having said that, it's only one game and clearly Denver is still the team to beat/championship favourites.

Wood wasn't signed by anyone for that reason

Lakers will hope he can be used in trade capital later on

Nothing is clear after 1 game, lets all just relax and chill.

Wood was brought in on a cheap contract as a fringe rotation guy. He is no worse than some other rotation guys getting around on teams that are trying to contend.

Another baffling move by Pelinka, along with re-signing D-Lo. They think they are 'assets' that other teams would gladly trade for down the track, that's a bold strategy Cotton.

I think the Mavs were very happy to see the back of Wood tbh

It isn't though, Wood is on next to no money. He is a low risk move with little expectations.

DLO is purely to match salaries later on in the year if a trade comes up. He did not sign either to be 'assets'

Hope Nurkic does well for Phoenix, just to stick it up to Bill simmons who thinks he is the worst starting centre in the NBA (which he clearly isn't)
He has looked really good so far but will face much bigger tests to come

Reports of Durantula being washed up/cooked were greatly exaggerated.

Also Nurkic seems like a more natural fit to The Suns and their style of offence than Ayton already.

If they stay healthy, The Suns should make the West Finals (at least)
Barring injuries (which can be a problem for this Phoenix squad), Nuggets v Suns and Celtics v Bucks seem the overwhelmingly likely Conference Finals matchups.

Who was saying Durant was washed? I have not seen that narrative from literally anyone.

If Booker stays fit he's definitely in the MVP convo.
I prefer this topic to start in a few weeks time. Let's take a breath and enjoy scrutinising who has gone up/down this year and then we can talk MVP 😂

??? I'm not saying he will, I'm merely pointing out that he showed last season and in the playoffs that he absolutely has the level required to be in the conversation. Don't think it's overly controversial or presumptuous.

Think he was about fourth or fifth favourite in the betting markets before the season started as well, so it's hardly an outlandish statement, especially considering it wasn't even a prediction.
