Would it be a far-fetched idea to have a Golden Rivers FC formed out of some or all of the clubs in that league and join the Central Murray league?
Not a horrible idea.
Look at the Southern Mallee Thunder, 4 communities understanding that 2 games each a year is better then the alternative.

While the trip to Sea Lake is shit, they have been a great addition to the NCFL. Nully the same.

I think league really need to be proactive in attracting another club or 3. I also really like the idea of a combined LFVL & NCFL.
With Marong - M/Gully going to HDFL.
Or NCFL talk to SMT and Warracknabeal.

This discussion doesn’t need to be started in the hub, it can and probably should be started by clubs talking to their league board members.

Might have to happen sooner rather than later. Charlton and Redbacks apparently to have talks shortly. Redbacks lack of numbers a problem.

Would be interesting to see how a combined NCFL/LVFL would work.

How many clubs would be able to be match it on their own, and how many would need to merge?

Do the junior age groups get reduced, given that LV only have 5 Under 18’s football teams?

Will the LV clubs have to establish hockey teams?

Nick Thompson not returning to Charlton. Heading to the E/Hawk.
While I like to see young fellas have a go at a higher standard, and he didn’t play for them last year.
You’d imagine the Navies would be dirty that he isn’t returning, given the state they are in.
Think he played a couple last year but the previous year he looked like he could develop into a good player, Charlton would be disappointed to lose a young bloke with ability. Havent heard that they have recruited many either so you would imagine that merger talks would be on the rise again. If they were to merge within the league that would reduce numbers to 7. Would think that then talks of league restructures in the area would be on the cards.

Are Charlton and Donald going to be 20 goals behind everyone else ? Feel bad for them. Just don’t know how Mitch Collins cannot recruit , closest town to bendigo , not as far for Melbourne recruits either . Salary cap have heaps left in it
Is Collins in it for right reasons ?

Donald on other hand, how they can only have resigned 3 oksenior players from 2024 is ridiculous. Internally might be abit going on

Wedderburn has fallen off the map

How many years before the Calder lions are nearly every club in the league?
Not everyone is on the Calder...

It is only the clubs struggling for Jnrs that need to worry about mergers.
Sea Lake (already a merged side), St Arn and Boort all seem to have good jnr numbers.
Their challenge is to develop the players in to good open age players alongside a culture that they want to stay involved in, eg travel back for.

I would have thought Donald would be ok but they seem to have been light on Jnr numbers recently.
Birchip have done well with their Kids in recent years, they don't have a lot of numbers, but have been able to get their jnrs into finals.

While it has improved in the last two years, I'd like to see the league introduce something a little more rigid then the "gentleman's agreement" that currently stands. Making it a 14-16 a side comp rather then the full 18 would be very beneficial.
