Just saw on Twitter Redland have also added key position player Adrian Williams to the playing list and bolstered the coaching dept with Jason Fennell. Believe they have also signed Andrew Scott from Mt Gravatt but haven't had confirmation?
Peanut,
so Scott may well join his brother Luke... good pick up if that's the case. Who is Adrian Williams? got any background on his credentials.?

Yeah heard Andrew Scott just a formality now. Williams played for Redland a few years back from memory. A Tassie state league and former VFL player. He's a good full back but article said he went forward in state U21 match and kicked 5 a few years ago

Saw Josh Pullman from Redlands signed with Wafl side South Fremantle. Big lose for Redlands, don't think Hughes is the same kind of player. In the same article it had some young player mills? from southport signed with the Wafl side to?. Not sure who he was though.
I think aspley will be the club team to beat again!

Any indications as to how many numbers at the Brisbane based NEAFL clubs are at training? How many of those that don't make the squad of 35 can we expect to come down to the QAFL? Also, any dates given as to when the 35 player squad is announced?

Saw in the paper down here Nicklaus has left Southport for Labrador. Also heard the Sharks have lost Wise, James, Baxter, Weymouth, McQualter, Milani, Mills, Hughes and a few other fringe players. That's a huge loss in experienced players can anyone confirm? Nearly going to be a completely new side at Southport by the sounds of it, will be interesting to see how quickly Angus can get them all to click.

Peanut,
do you know where baxter, Milani, and Mills have gone. These 3 are huge losses.

Must also comment, the recruits the Sharks have gained will far outweigh the loss of these players Thus should be a top competitor in 2014...... Angus is a very astute, good coach. Lays down the law firmly and doesn't deviate,,, is very good with the development of young guys and with the guru fitness trainer in Gary Fox, the Sharks should be powerful this season.

Mcqualter is playing for Richmond vfl side, Milani is still recovering from shoulder op? Baxter has been travelling overseas, wise isn't returning though and Mills is playing in the Wafl next year I believe.

Have heard Josh Milani has signed with Hills Eagles in Sydney along with another few from NEAFL Northern comp.

Bit of news from the Sydney Uni website - they have recruited Brabazon and O'Dwyer from Swans Via Canberra. Brabazon is a gun but has had a horror run with injuries. Also Sierakowski who is a Sydney boy who was drafted into the AFL; I think he probably played a couple of senior AFL games. And another fulltime fitness guy from Melbourne Heart soccer.
And Setanta OHalpin in some kind of capacity - not sure how that is going to work.
I get to see Sydney Uni about three times a year (as an unbiased spectator) and I like what I see. Great culture, strong management and leadership, ambition and committment. Downside is their lack of a consistent home base.
They will go ok this year and I'm tipping them to be there for the first week of the finals.
But only for the first week.

finals for uni i wouldnt think recruited ok but not deep enough on there list. eagles out of non afl clubs recruited strongest but afl clubs and qld teams will be favs for finals spots

Word is that O Halpin is playing for Albury Tigers with his brother in 2014

Hey All,

Hope you had a safe and productive Festive break. The smell of footy is coming and with the new competition comes new excitement. As a Qbn Tiger fan I look forward to the banter in this thread and will contribute to many discussions. Some won't agree but that is the beauty of threads such as these.

Bring on the footy and best of luck to the Queanbeyan Tigers in their 90th year

Would anyone know when the Team Lists have to be finilised also I noticed that each club has 35 players PLUS 12 U19 rookies. In relation to the rookies I gather they play in the QAFL but are the QAFL clubs obligated to play them in thier top grade ?

JSG, who are some of the recruits that Hills Eagles have? They must be big and many if you are correct that they have outdone Sydney Uni who looked to have done very well over the offseason. The only ones I know of at Hills Eagles are Luke Jericho, Josh Milani & Jackson Ferguson. All very good players but I think they just offset a few of their losses.

Not 100% sure of other names so wont confirm until I know for sure, but heard ex VFL Sanfl, some ACT Syd AFL, QLD and possibly NT added extras, just know there numbers very strong and a lot of new talent apart from the three you mention above
