Must admit they have been impressive to date. Very up and running side at the moment. Tough draw from here on in for the tigs though so will be interesting to see where they end up.

The next month is crucial to the group.

@ Ainslie
Belco

Hi all, always been an avid reader, first post.

I agree with the comments re the game commentary, however I think they have been a little harsh on BD who does seem to have some idea of who the players are. As someone who watches a lot of recorded games I can tell you its much better to watch them with D grade commentary than none at all.

ABH does do a great job on QBN FM even if he does get stuck into the Tigers at times, even when they are winning. On the Tigers, interesting to note that the only positive comments regarding the Tigers performances this year have come from ABH. Season isnt over yet but credit where credit's due I think.

Sorry Elong - because I'm from Sydney and new to this comp I'm maybe throwing up some independent or unbiased views of people that others don't see ??
Please tell me how Aaron Bruce is dominating the comp ?? As a key fwd he has kicked 23 goals in 8 games .... But .....
He has kicked 20 of those in 4 games against Tuggies 7 / belco 3 / mt gravatt 3 & undermanned GWS 7
In the last 2 weeks he has played in teams defeated by 99 & 140 points
I don't have anything against Aaron , all I'm saying perhaps is that our media friends at NEAFL need to put a lid on wrapping up players as legends and superstars.
I have stopped watching any web casts of games because of this mindset of Greg T who has no concept or idea how footy flows and his commentating is damaging the Neafl brand
I'm biased but our SydAFL commentators who have had a few yrs exp are so much better
In summary I think the Eastern conf is 5 years off pace from Nthn conf currently
& ELong I'm waiting for your next insult - look fwd to it

Just saw that this weeks streaming game is in Sydney... maybe your theory will be put to the test. Will they use local guys or ship up the Canberra crew?

I will be tuning in to check it out for sure.

Just quickly on the rep game.. I'm not surprised eastern got beat, but by that much yes!
Also got to remember that the QLD state league has been running for a lot longer then a nsw/act state league, yes there was the canberra comp but not truely a state league and now with Syd hills and Syd uni involved with the possibility of one of two more teams to join, (from what I've heard balmain, north shore, wagga & hunter) the eastern comp will grow and improve massively as someone said eastern is about 5yrs off the pace of the northern boys...It's very exciting times for afl in the nsw/act and in my opinion it will be sooner rather then later that the gap between conferences will close.

On players not playing in the rep team there needs to be some sort of rule involved if their reason for not playing isn't genuine. But lets say with houlihan not playing can you really blame him? Has played over 150 odd games in the AFL I'd be just happy he's keen to play in the comp.

Having a read thru some of the posts about Aaron Bruce and I have to say that I think some are being a tad unfair towards him re the comment by GT.

I can tell you from first hand that while sitting in that chair next to GT, your main focus is waiting for your cue to comment and not stuffing up.

Brucey would have heard the "legend" comment but would have been more concerned about the above couple things I mentioned.
I have met Aaron several times during some of my rep duties of the past and from what I saw from him, he is a quiet, well mannered, level headed sort of a guy who did not seem a big headed lad...now what he is like out with the boys on a Sat night, well I would not know.

I also believe that Aaron would be under no illusions that he has a long way to go before he is classed a legend of Canberra football.

Nothing interesting there.... playing for the club he signed for, was a top up for the games against the afl listed clubs.

UWS has four other top ups though from Eagles for the game against the eagles is more interest

Interesting team sheet for Hills Eagles v UWS

EAGLES
In: R Tungatalum

UWS
Out: R Tungatalum

Going to Canberra for the weekend - what is the frequency of QBN-fm ?

Obviously we were hoping for and expecting a better start to the year.

We have improved from last year with some much closer results. Missing out on the points to Ainslie by a kick along with a few other close games show that we are heading in the right direction. Inconsistency is the thing to work on at the moment.

The new recruits are generally impressing and we have the odd key player to return.

No doubt your opinion will differ, ABH but we are certainly moving forward.

Probably a dumb question but the ladder is divided at the top 5. How are the finals workinig this year?

My mail is that 200K more was spent on recruiting this season so surely you can't be happy with the return on your investment?

Also is there any rumblings amongst players that J.Love can have a 6 week overseas trip and from what I have seen on the NEAFL website he is named on an extended bench??

Not sure its the right thing for the culture of the club do you?

I know we went through this the other week, but it's now more freaky than ever....SHEagles give up four of their youngest and brightest to the opposing team.
How can the result mean anything ?

It seems that we have to just accept that this is the way for this Brave New World of NEAFL footy. Or else we go back to following the lower grades that we followed pre-NEAFL

.

I see from the weekly NEAFL newscast that the rep fixture next year is against Tasmania. Dunno how they are performing these days (used to be pretty good against Victorian sides) but I bet we are here in early May next year knowing that the fixture will again be half-baked and treated with less than total enthusiasm. Deja Vu.

Eastlake-Brabazon is a gun by 8 goals
Hills over GWS by 6 goals because of Tungatulum magic
Belconnen by 50 points because uni just aren't very good-finding feet in higher comp.
Queanbeyan over Ainslie in the game that should be getting streamed
Swans over GC - bigger bodies

For mine, if GT and BD aren't getting paid to do the job commentating and ABH you're willing to give it crack try should have a week where you walk in and they walk out. Dunno whether they enjoy it that much that they wouldn't be willing to let someone else have a go at it or maybe share the role with one of them?

My tips for this week:
Swans
Belco
Eastlake
Queanbeyan
UWS

Eastlake
Hills
Belco
Ainslie
Swans

If results go the way that elong has tipped we'll have the situation of five teams all on 24 points with a three game gap back to UWS in sixth. I know there's still half a season to go but the finalists should be all but set within the next few weeks - with other teams starting to talk about "mathematical possibilities" and working on development for next year.

Of course, I'd like to think that at least one of your tips is wrong and there'll still be one team clear atop the ladder! :)

Morningside is the worst team in the north conference but just beat Port Adelaide Magpies to make the final 4 of Foxtel Cup. Shows the league's depth and hope you guys start to realise north conference is lightyears ahead of nsw. Your best team outside Swans would struggle v our reserve teams even. Some of the posts ive seen on here stating east can beat north etc haha, funny as.

Dont put that game in stone...

Every chance the TSL could collapse at the end of the season. Some clubs existence been threatened while others bitching about the 80K salary cap and Clarence, once a proud known club across the land lose players to Keilor in Melbourne suburban comps because they cant offer any more cash by the rules while Clubs like Hobart have no more to give and balk at a salary cap increase.

The old TFL beat the VFL in the 60s, the VFA in the 90s but last weekend kicked an entire 3 goals against the same.

The State league collapsed several years ago and it's revival is spluttering.

You obvioiusly don't know much about the game of aussie rules son. check ports team list from last week compared to the side they rolled out in the foxtel cup. I believe you will find they fielded a side full of reserve grade players and put away most senior players. please keep your dribble away from our thread you pea brain. that is all
