Quite simply, a hack! One of the worst big bodies players I've ever seen. Talentless, lazy and lost footballers ever to don the red and black.

Still, leave him in there, see how the number stack up.

With enough rope as they say......

One can usually find him standing outside Boost bar in Highpoint, opposite Sunglasses Hut such is the kid's application.

Idiotic comments.

In the top 5 at the club based purely on talent and could have kicked 5 last night.

What do you expect him to do during the week and WTF has standing outside Boost got to do with his application?

Neagle needs to have a look at Le Cras' highlight tape from tonight. A good 30mins of leading, doubling back etc.

When Neagle can do this for a whole game, and people kick it to him, he'll start to find the confidence to play like a gun and kick 3+ goals every match.

Yep, I'm on the 'good game' wagon. Surprisingly missed those set shots, though most were from 40+. Pressure, perhaps. You can see at the game that he actually works hard to present, it's just that his teammates fail to hit him up, and our forwardline is often congested. Would probably be better suited in a more open, 'paddock'-style setup.

He certainly isn't 'talentless.' Clunked down a few really good contested marks, making something out of nothing really, and is normally a very good set-shot on goal.

Massive talent. Massive. Better natural forward than Hurley or Gumbleton.

Still keeping the faith. Fitness is looking better; as Ben said, he's normally a beautiful kick, and if he had've kicked straight as usual, he would've had 4-6 goals.

Have said this all along: he is our current and future Full Forward.

i am not sure if it is him deciding to do it himself(i hope not) or thats what the coaches are telling him to do, but why the hell is he going up past the past 50 mtr line all the time? him and gumby should stay in the 50 mtr arc 100% all the time and it may encourage guys to go long with the kicks instead of trying to go with little 25 mtr passes into chf and getting ass r*ped on the turnover all the time...

Played well again last night.

If he'd kicked better than 1.4 (which is really surprising from a very good kick) people would be looking at him a lot differently.

We look so much better with a leading target in the team, especially one who can burst open packs like Jay does.

Will be an important part of our future.

100% agree mate, been saying we need a leading target in the forward 50 as we never seem to his a target (probs other then monfries occasionally). Looked very good last nite, just interesting for him not to convert more but that game should give him a lot of confidence

In the top 5?? !!

Ever considered stand up as a career?

Put simply, he didn't earn has spot in the senior side. Anyone will testify to that. He's there as a support for Gumby and provide us with any sort of firepower to kick to.

During the week, he should be putting more hours at the club to get himself right as a professional footballer.

Keep punching above your weight, champ.

You crazy. If there is one thing that Jay has, it's talent.

His work ethic has looked much better the last two games. Here's hoping it continues on the up and the best way to ensure this happens is with him remaining in the seniors for the rest of the year.

He did say based purely on talent.

I don't necessarily agree he's top 5 in talent, but there is no denying he has talent in spades. The only thing holding him back is his fitness and attitude. His attitude is improving and consequently so is his fitness. He's a classic full forward, not a Buddy Franklin freak type.

He's got a very good lead, great dukes and a beautiful kick (although he didn't have the best night yesterday). We can't expect him to build a Rielwoldt like fitness base where he makes 4th, 5th and 6th leads all day, but he has the potential to become a 50-60 goal a year full forward IF he wants it hard enough.

In any event, noone is going to win me over on Neagle.

It feels like Courtney Johns when many sung his praises.

However, answer me this

How does a bloke who doesn't deserve his spot in the seniors and only in there by default, is assured by an inept coach of his spot for the remainder of the season while players such as Houli, Myers, Atkinson, Howlett, Prismall, Dyson, etc get promoted and dropped almost weekly.

Completely beyond me.

I'm happy to be labelled crazy for giving my opinion.

Yes he did - with a game in round 1 that was good enough for reselection. VFL is a different kettle of fish, particularly for forwards.

Anyway, just opinions.

One thing I like about Jay: He can kick a long way with relative ease, meaning his run-up or style isn't compromised trying to make the distance.

We'll you've convinced me, Houli to FF.

We need to lure one with money freed up by the departure of Lloyd and Lucas.

Simple as that.

If the market is going to change and we're forced to look in lower ranks for hidden gems, surely to christ we can find a ready made FF who can kick 40-50 goals, mature in body, and is willing to make the most of his chances.

Neagle, I just don't see that.

Jay is clearly on the list because he is rated as a talented, young key forward. He has been in the wilderness for most of the year as his form has been average and he needed to get fitter.

We have tried Hurley all year as a deep forward and it hasnt worked. What else would you do? Whether you like Neagle or not he is the only true full foward on the list and you cant deny his talent.

You honestly want to try and recruit MORE KPP?

This isn't a question of him being on our list, in our senior team however, raises many questions.

Whats a true FF these days? Most of the top contributors currently in our game hold their position on the 50m arc Franklin, Brown, N Riewoldt, Pavlich.

The goalkicking table is currently littered with smaller forwards actually.

Because he is the last of the 'ready tall forwards we have on the list..

Laycock is injured, Still is not ready, Hille is injured, Carlisle is not ready, Hurley is a defender, Gumby can't do it alone, M.Williams is not a KPP but merely a third tall.

Anyone else?

He is ready to play AFL. Might not be the best going around but he can certainly put in a contest..

Kicking 1.4 has put something into your mind? He was hitting the scoreboard at least..
