While Teague and a possible replacement is the focus of the thread, much will rely on the outcomes of the root and branch review at Carlton.

No organisation review is commissioned without broad outcomes being roughly determined at the outset. Consultants understand this and will be briefed accordingly.

The Coaching set up is just one vital component. Culture, game style/strategy and in game tactics, drafting and trading, development, health and fitness and the entire Footy Dept are in need of reform.

Judd has allegedly been an invisible Director and the Review itself should examine the qualities required in that role.

Tough for Teague and co, but the Review needs to play itself out.

The Club has been an average keeping up the numbers mob for a long time.

Their list is mediocre reflecting poor draft and trade decisions over a long time. Still even an average list can improve and maximise its potential. That is the immediate task. If that means lopping heads in the Footy Dept and on the list so be it.

They look a long way from relevance to me.

Did anyone think this list was playing finals in 2021?

i mean

they finished 11th last year, had walsh cement himself as a future star of the comp and then brought in saad, so clearly they thought so

the 3 teams ahead of them were

collingwood (who given their trade period were always going to be a basket case this year)
Melbourne
GWS

so they needed to leap frog over 2 teams to make the 8 (i feel it was a safe assumption that collignwood would not be making September next year), this doesn't even include the real possibility of another team in the 8 sliding out (like st kilda)

I'm happy to keep Teague, but I'd like to see a complete overhaul of our assistants. J. Barker out the door already, which I'm thrilled with and I've been advocating for the LAST FIVE YEARS. Bring in a full time experienced mentor like Lyon or Pyke (not Woosha - he's a bit cooked I reckon). And then headhunt the best 3 or 4 assistants in the competition.

Then put a broom through the board. Get rid of the Pratt and Matheison and their minions and bring in the best of the best from across the country from a variety of backgrounds.

One just needs to look at Richmond when they brought in Gale and O'Neal. Turned a basket case club of close to 40 years around in the blink of an eye.

Never underestimate the influence of outstanding management right at the head of the organisation.

Finally, if financially possible at the moment, expand our recruitment team. More due diligence is needed when we go to draft night. A lot of recent picks have the distinct whiff of "gut instinct" selections. That's fine every now and then, but more solid 200 game types need to be selected. We have failed in that field significantly.

Didn't they go the experienced coach with Malthouse and that didn't work out? Ross would be just as much of a bomb. Need a 'young' hungry coach with a bit of experience.

Pyke fits the bill, or Voss perhaps.

Only the delusion.

Keep Teague and get in some decent assistants. Footy has changed since Lyon’s days, he won’t achieve anything at Carlton, especially with their list.

All the Melbourne supporters and their backhanded "their list" comments...... you were us only two years ago and just remember your club has done nothing! There is plenty of talent on the list, harnessing that talent is the issue.

The issue I have with Lyons is he suffers from the same issue as choco. Too smart for their own good and disrespectful to others.

They are better served behind the scenes as choco has found success in.

I don't want either of those guys, but at least as coaches they have purpose and an unshakeable belief in their system and methodologies - almost to a fault. A complete contrast to the schizoid, rudderless coaching we've seen from Teague this year and started to set into Bolton's coaching in the back half of 2017.

Hmmmmm, less than three years ago we played in a prelim with a very young team. Like most Carlton supporters you’re wearing rose coloured glasses. Carlton’s list doesn’t have ‘plenty’ of talent.

Ideally an experienced coach who knows how to coach gen z footy. I suppose the likes of Nicks & Rutten show that a past head coaching role isn't entirely necessary. Sam Mitchell has links to Jack Russell - could be viable, though he seems the logical successor to Clarkson so he'd be hesitant to burn that bridge.

They need an experienced coach ... not rookies like Bolts and DT.

Interesting comparison there.
If the talent is truly there, they would match up well with the Dees.

Blues have nowhere near the quality on the list. Only Walsh (over Jordan) and Weitering (over Petty) would get a game for them. Mackay would be a marginal upgrade but not needed.

I thought they should’ve got voss two years ago but they went with Teague.

I still think Voss would suit the blues.
I feel like it will be Voss if they decide to replace Teague.

It will feel like itnis somehow making up for the way they treated Ratten.

Brad Scott heading to Carlton if the whispers going around are to be believed. I'm sure this one has popped up everywhere by now.

There is no way known we are going to appoint a newbie this time around, we did it with Bolton & Teague and look where it has got us.

The realistic options are those in the poll minus Kingsley & Scott but with Don Pyke & the Geelong Scott added in.

Realistic option - Chris Scott? Lol.

Realistic option - Chris Scott? Lol.

It all depends on how he feels about the upcoming changes to the Geelong list, we all know there is 6-8 big names about to retire which will mean they have to go back to the draft and rebuild somewhat. Will he want to do that ??

I don't know but if he doesn't, then he may be open to a change of clubs.
