New Carlton coach (poll)

Out of those named, Ross Lyon is the most encouraging. For a left field option, Ryan O’Keefe is worth a look. Ryan was a midfield development coach, SANFL Coach and now TAC Cup coach. He was a star footballer with an amazing footy brain. I have NFI if he is ready though. Surely Carlton go for Ross.

Agree 100%, outside of Paul Ross I can't recall too many occasions where hiring the interim coach full time has worked long term.

Did your boys do it with Primus ?

Mark Williams should at least be considered in my opinion..

I’ve always considered Choco to be a bit of a nut job, and felt he was counterproductive as assistant to Dimma (we won premierships after Choco left).

I wouldn’t let him near my team as senior coach, and there was likely a good reason behind why he wasn’t given the GWS job.

Clarko wont be leaving end of this year. And Mitchell doesnt have a whole lot of experience coaching. Would be rather risky.

Yeah that's why I'm in agreeance with you...Primus definitely had a positive Win/Loss record during his time as interim coach but it didn't result in coaching success once he got the role. Port were on the 'bones of their arse' during the reign of Primus though in his defence, Dean Laidley was an assistant coach via Skype such was the mess.

Yeah he's certainly a different character. He did have a big influence on Dustin Martin though and even if success followed his departure it doesn't mean it was due to his departure, on the contrary he might have been integral in helping build the foundations prior to success?
I dont know why he didn't get the GWS role, one could argue that he might of got more out of the list than Cameron has, we'll never know.
'Nut Case' or not, Melbourne have let him in their club to work with their elite talent.

We did it in 2002 with Peter Rohde after Terry Wallace left.

Honestly he really hasn’t missed too much with covid shortening the season last year and obviously this will be the first full season he misses. He seems like a very switched on bloke. You can tell on footy classified or triple m he still has a passion for coaching. I reckon he’d be eyeing off the Carlton job. He’d do wonders for them IMO. Their list is sortve similar to the saints 07 list.

I still think Voss would suit the blues.

I honestly think Voss isn't a coach's arse. Not a tactical brain cell in his head. Was not surprised when he failed at Brisbane and amazed when Port took him as assistant coach 7 years ago........ look where that's got them.

What is sacking another coach going to do? The new coach will have the same results. Not going to turn that club around in a year. It's going to take 3-4. Why sack a coach now? You're effectively going backward since the day you signed him on.
