Not sure about any changes, but our vacant numbers are now (use any 6 of these for lotto if you want)....

6 (Vacant), 8 (Hahn), 11 (Reid), 14 (Ward), 15 (Hudson), 18 (Stack), 20 (Hill), 28 (Hall).

Not sure if anyone will move up or down or whatever at this stage.

Dogs
Patrick Veszpremi from 32 to 8.
Michael Talia takes 32 (His grandfather's number in the 1954 flag)
Clay Smith to 14.

Yet to be confirmed but this is what is doing the rounds.

Intersting call on Veszpremi considering he didn't do much last year. New coach must rate him highly to get a number change made.

Also stmookeyj - Where did you hear about Sherman's change? Seems kind of strange for a player to move 1 spot?? Why not just give Wood 11?

I'll field both of those - Veszpremi moved to give Talia his grandfather's number.

Sherman moved into his favourite number 11.

AFL recruit Dylan Buckley to captain Ivanhoe Grammar Firsts
Buckley conceded he contemplated accepting the Carlton number 16 Guernsey, made famous by his father in the late 70’s and 80’s, but decided instead to carve his own path, agreeing to wear the vacant number 7 made famous by current Carlton Coach Brett Ratten.

Seven was left vacant after Mclean moved to 14 last year.

Rod, Ricky and Ken wore 14 for Carlton.

I knew Sherman wore 11 at Brissy, thought nothing of it.

Pretty good of Vez to make that move for the kid. Still not sure he deserves such a high number, though I'm not sure what else you guys had free.

Raph Clarke wears #8, what has he done to deserve that?

It's just a number. Different clubs have sacred numbers but #8 is not one for us. #3 and #6 are. Players can have a choice between every other guernsey number but traitionally they are only offered 3 or 6 for special occasions.

Ease up. Just an opinion.

Raph got the #8 because he had always wanted it. Much like Sherman with 11.

This was about Vez though. I think that it says alot that he has been given such a low number. I'm not saying he is rubbish, just that he hasn't played many games or been talked about as a big part of the clubs future. This move goes against that trend and says, to me at least, that the coaching staff at the Dogs see something in him.

I wasn't having a go, sorry if it came across like that. Just giving an opinion.

The way I think it is run is, aside from the #3 and #6:

Current players get a choice if they want to switch to a lower number that has come free (in this case, Hahn's 8 was)

Then draftees get a choice, in order of which they were drafted.
