No idea why people hate North Melbourne. kind of reminds me of that bloke who reckons he's in with the popular lads but he's their punching bag, but then belittles the easy target.

Funny thing is only bigfooty users and people who don't understand footy and can't kick a drop punt hate North. most normal people are indifferent to them.
I've always hated North. Mainly because Port would always lose to them, especially in the first 10-15 in the AFL - it didn't matter if we were in the Top 4 and they were bottom, we'd always lose to them.

I also don't understand their obsession with their home shorts, either - another contributing factor.

Yeah you've mentioned

First point - fair, that forms a basis for a one-sided rivalry.

Second point - wowwww.

Yeah I have that feeling too

Certainly an improvement over our previous effort in that regard
🤦‍♂️

I'm guessing there was something in the contract with Mazda at the time that they get extra space around their logo, was the same on all our jumpers
This jumper has stripes on the back too right? Canterbury and North never once looked good, the league is better for North wearing Puma (even if results haven’t been good).

There's another side to this...m

If North just grew up and wore white shorts in home games, we'd have less to complain about and there would be about 3-4 less threads on this board and the main one

So if anything, they're keeping us busy 🤣

I'm an NRL guy so don't have a dog in the fight but I firmly believe that the home side gets the final say of what they wear and it's up to the opposition to not clash.

We have teams like the Bulldogs and Manly who, for many decades, have mixed light/dark jerseys and shorts, so much so that when they've worn light/light and dark/dark it looks plain wrong. Ditto for the Warriors, although they've changed and being only 30 years old is a lot more palatable.

The biggest problem is that teams are so stubborn and refuse, as an away team, to accommodate the team's choice and take the you-know-what. Souths are guilty of this as we refused to wear our black set away to any teams, even primarily light clubs. Part of that was sponsorship reasons but, funnily enough, when our sponsors had to be switched in the finals, we magically had a sponsor-swapped kit in the correct colours...

When you get to Finals and neutral games, there definitely needs to be a more even playing field in terms of guernsey/jersey preference, although it could be argued that the "home team", having qualified higher, should still have the first choice in at least some way.

Unless the AFL makes us stop (and there's no reason for them to do that) we're going to keep wearing the shorts we want to wear in games where it doesn't cause any clash issues, sorry. You'll just have to find a way to live with that, or more likely we'll have to find a way to live with you never shutting the **** up about it.

Consider this:

What more are some of these teams supposed to do?

Consider this, you have Richmond in their DARK home jumper in white shorts vs North in their primarily white jumper and blue shorts.

Since the AFL (and North) won't budge on the white shorts situation, what more can be done apart from either a) telling North to grow up, b) forcing Richmond into their clash kit which, while it wouldn't be too bad, would probably make things worse.

The only Melbourne-based club at the moment that actually actually makes a proactive effort to wear their away/clash jumper is Collingwood.

You've singled out the only two games where North have budged (probably forced).

What about the rest of the games over the course of the last 3 years?

Teams shouldn't be forced to wear white shorts in away games vs a team that has a white jumper.

Honestly, the issue isn't North per se (I just bash them for it because I know you're gullible enough to respond) but the AFL. The AFLW has shown us this year that white shorts aren't needed at all - why can't what translate to the main game?

The AFL should do their job and due diligence: you make a big matrix of all the teams' designs (you know, the ones that they own the IP to and frequently exercise those rights of). Any clashes, you go "hey, Collingwood, your primary jumper clashes with Carlton", to which Collingwood reply "how high? Sure, here's our clash jumper instead, how's this?" and the AFL say "yep, all good" or "no, try again".

Eventually, clubs get the memo that you can't just flip colours and call it good and they have to get creative, like every other sports competition in the world.

If clubs can't come up with a one-size-fits-all clash (which, when several clubs have 3-4 club colours, is inevitable) they have to come up with a few variants, each one approved or barred for certain games by the AFL. After all, they organise the comp and matches, they get the ultimate say.

Never, ever, should a team who has priority over x be forced to adapt because of a failure of their opposition. Strip the points and send them home. You can't make rules for some and not the rest (Victoria come at me).

Every single uniform worn by every club is "forced" moron, why do you think your club has had so much trouble wearing the prison bars over the years? The AFL directs clubs to wear a particular combination, and they wear it or cop a fine.

In the rest of the games our white shorts don't cause a clash. You keep pretending that we never wear white shorts, I keep pointing to the instances where we do, because those are the ones where they would cause a clash, the situation that you keep claiming does not happen, but you keep ****ing saying it over and over! Do you think I'm the only one who's sick to death of you? But yeah sure, it's master trolling on your part, not an annoying whinger pissing everyone off and making himself look like a moron.

Using AFLW might not be the best case for your argument since:
a) the game is much slower
b) there's actually less players on field

Is that the actual criteria as to what constitutes a jumper clash, though?

I don't disagree, and this is where Carlton cause issues (case in point, you mentioned Carlton vs Collingwood).

Your last paragraph is basically how the EPL operates.

I think north should just fold as well, we don’t need them

In fact - they don't even have to do their job, I've done it for them! (And will do so each year going forward as a resource)
