Was there ever a chance clubs would have unique guernseys for Gather Round or was that something I read a year or two ago and just latched onto for some reason.
I think some already have? Crows already have.

Freo's "blackout"
One of the shittest ideas ever. imagine introducing a totally generic new colour to a club whose palette does not suite it and then the design is like, one dark colour against another. the fact it has become a defacto third colour with the training kits is even worse.

the combo of purple and black is horrid as the purple is barely visible

“Man, why don’t teams experiment with new designs”

I agree with both sides, to an extent. It's not the design/colour scheme that's terrible - it's the lazy execution that's stopping it from being even considered good. It needs more of something like a neon sign effect. White thin inside stroke, purple glow. Black base.

exactly, with this whole black out idea crows, gws and carlton, the team needs to have a dark base thats the whole idea for instance a club like north would also use black or the eagles would bring back navy

Pretty narrow take. purple and black is just a shocking colour combination, whereas they could play around with a few different shades of purple or even bring back the old colours in a new design.

The 'blackout' thing isn't even unique. it was being done in the NFL a decade ago. even Carlton were doing it back then.

The approach it has is more about embracing 'tougher' themes. that isn't really a part of the Dockers DNA. Freo work best when the club embraces its willingness to be different, its cult heroes, contribution of Aboriginal players, its dedicated supporter base and when embracing the town's football heritage, working class roots, Greek/Italian/Croat connections, the wharf and the beach and the architecture of the West End...

So much to grab onto and celebrate and utilise and bringing in black and the shitty blackout design is not part of it.

Yeah purple with black looks awesome together, if you had the current jumper with black shorts it would have so much more character.

This was discussed on here last year I think, when they were training with a purple top and black shorts, a lot of people commented how much better it looked.

I agree the blackout version didn't work though, as it wasn't visible enough.
