If we have to keep the old song (revamped whatever it's the old song), I hope they at least tidy it up. It's edited terribly. What a half arsed effort.

The reworked is so lame. The cheesy electric guitar already sounds outdated.

Liked the EJ tune, had all the elements of a good footy song.

give this fella a go..

Had the opportunity to vote on behalf of 2 memberships and voted the reworked version last (by a country mile).

Very disappointed in the result.

Was also disappointed in the apathetic members who didn't bother voting. It's a pity that it wasn't compulsory when renewing the 2012 memberships.

Oh well, let's start winning games of footy!!

very very disspointed

The reworked was the absolute worst of all 4 imo.
They took out the best bits of the original an made it worse.

but its done now an will prob never come up again for a long time so gonna have to put up with it.

really its just typical of perth, we all hate voting an unless its forced upon us most wont bother.
The majority hate change, so nothing ever gets done an if something is done its a very very small change.

Could imagine the players shouting out with pride after a great win the ROOOOARING, the Glooooory the freo parts etc etc just so much in it that could be belted out with pride an passion.
Now we are stuck with more of the lame singing with no parts to belt out with pride an stupid lyrics.

Agree that it's a bit poor that a huge proportion of members didn't bother voting. I voted the original but still relieved that there is some familiarity with the song.

I see Harris is working the spin again:

http://www.fremantlefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7009/newsid/126369/default.aspx

“The result of the member song poll, which saw our original club song ranked third in the preferences, also confirmed that there was a clear appetite for change with what is one of the club’s key brand elements,” Harris said.

Really Steve? I thought the process indicated that 67% of the members had no appetite for change at all.

The old song stays, albeit with a minor rework. Way to go Freo. :thumbsu:

No, that shows that 67% of our members couldn't care less what our song is.

i.e. no appetite for change. If they had an appetite for change they would have voted. Its simple logic. Trust me, I know simple.

To be fair, all the options were half arsed, Im just glad the Freo Way to Go didn't get replaced.

Really, the song should be an evolution - keep the best bits, throw out the worst bits. Getting ideas from all sorts of people, players, musicians, fans. I reckon Ross the Boss could've even come up with a better option than those presented.

.

This was my original thoughts as well, you've definitely got a point regarding the group mentality of Perth, we don't like change but that potentially may be part of the charm.

After thinking about it I've decided to choose my battles. End of the day the song will sound sweet if we have onfield success.

The club has appeared to make all the right moves forward in the past few years after a disasterous start (and almost decade) so I'll survive.

lololololololololololololololololol

Well this result has restored some of my faith. I am now left wondering what might have been had we members been given the chance to vote on on our jumper, our colours and our symbols....

Alas, we were never given that chance...

Clay, again, is 100% bang on the money:

No conspiracy. Just proves that engaging with such a process is a waste of time and more importantly, money. There was nothing wrong with the original Freo marketing (colours and song), but there was plenty wrong with the way the club has conducted itself on and off the field. The Steves picked the low hanging fruit to look like they were doing something, which they have thankfully stopped doing (the Lyon appointment is actually doing something, and was a coup). It took a woefully shit season like 2011 for them to pull their finger out, which is bad management. The only thing that will save them is a premiership. Otherwise, they're as bad as Hatt/McLean.

...scarily accurate...

Now this:

It's poetic justice that the pro-cosmetic change lobby got the change they disliked most.

I didn't listen to a single song and voted for the original. But the schadenfreude of this result is excellent.

...is pure genius.

Heave ho mofos.:thumbsu:

i.e. no appetite for change. If they had an appetite for change they would have voted. Its simple logic. Trust me, I know simple.
Well no...

If they had no appetite for change at all they would've wanted to avoid change occurring - by voting (for the original). The fact that they didn't vote at all suggests that they aren't bothered if change occurs and would be happy to consume it if faced with it - which would give them greater than zero (no) appetite.

...scarily accurate...
Wait, in hindsight you agree that there wasn't a conspiracy despite being one of the original conspiracy theorists?:
The old song AND the reworked song are competing against each other. Ergo they will take votes from one another thereby splitting the vote of those would prefer the current song be retained.

The Steves didn't get where they are because they're stupid... They know exactly what they're doing.

Now this:

...is pure genius.

Heave ho mofos.:thumbsu:
And now you're jumping on the reworked bandwagon despite thinking that ALL alternatives to the original were crap?:
And seeing as the alternative offerings are just as crap, nay, WORSE than our current song, I'll be voting to keep it.:thumbsu:
Cool story.

i.e. no appetite for change. If they had an appetite for change they would have voted. Its simple logic. Trust me, I know simple.

If they wanted to make sure things wouldn't change they would have voted too :p

It's apathy, pure and simple. In the end, nobody really cares enough to exercise their choice - they just protest when they don't have that choice to *not* exercise their rights.

This might have been right if people had been able to vote for no change i.e vote to keep the current song and nothing else, but everybody who voted had to place the new songs somewhere in the order and therefore risk contributing to the selection of a new song.

You can both pack your tongues away now, Steve's arse is probably in bed.

Wait, in hindsight you agree that there wasn't a conspiracy despite being one of the original conspiracy theorists?:

Conspiracy? I don't recall ever using the word "conspiracy". I just stated the simple fact that the 2 versions of the current SAME song would take votes from one another. I was and am still correct there.

And now you're jumping on the reworked bandwagon despite thinking that ALL alternatives to the original were crap?:

Cool story.

Yeah, it was cool.:thumbsu: The "reworked" song is our same current song.

It's like Jeff Buckley singing Hallelujah - it's the same freaking song!

Sigh. If only we were given the opportunity to vote on something so important as our jumper...

meh, just play football, if theyre singing it most supporters will be too happy to be worried about what theyre singing, and the ones who arent are too precious.

all the options sucked.

 In a straight vote maybe the two versions could take votes of each other but I can't see how it was an issue here, at least not any more than any other two options. I'd be interested to see the breakdown but I wouldn't be suprised if the voting was a lot more mixed than was getting discussed here.

My least favourite option but not as big of an issue as what happens thursday, which is only interesting until the nab cup which will be irrelevant come round 1.
