From what I've watched, Vics been extremely disciplined. Good day for the team as a whole, bowled good areas and got the reward for it and followed up with cautious batting to get a 120 run lead with 9 wickets in hand

Commentary saying Lyon should've bowled more than 11 out of the first 36 overs of the day, even though he didn't look particularly threatening to my eyes.

In terms of pushing for a test opening spot Harris probably needs to convert this 41* into a 100 tomorrow (not that he will necessarily get first crack, but if Pucovski doesn't get up / get injured will want to make sure he is next in line ahead of Khawaja/Burns)

I don't want Harris to play in the Test team, I've seen enough of him to know he's too flawed to do well against quality opponents at test level.

Has a good coach in Victoria with Rodgers hopefully working on those flaws that worry you.Interesting for people that are into record partnerships but the Vict.record 2nd wicket partnership is 314,Ponsford/Hendry 1927/28.This partnership by Harris and Handscomb is now 237.

Yet he is doing well against a supposed call up to our test team???
Is there rain coming? Seems a pretty generous declaration!

Similar thoughts and Handscomb I think has done the same in the past with declarations.A target you would think NSW will chase and gives both teams a chance of a result.Hopefully a great 4th day coming up.

Early wickets the key here. If we can get Patterson and Gilkes early I suspect that they might shut up shop.

With you. The bloke has been given a generous 10 Tests and all he has to show for it is a piddling @23 average. He is no more than state standard. I do believe tho that CA will have liked the red ball runs he scored in England over winter.
Usman Khawaja has home Ashes form and experience.. is in prime form now.. so gets my vote. Not as tho the cupboard is totally bare at the top of the order either, as there are now a handful of good emerging openers that look to have the skills for Test cricket.

Harris has been sent back to state cricket to improve his game which he has, as you said batted well on England wickets over the winter months.Worth another chance at this stage.Chris Rogers as Vict.coach I am sure is putting a lot of work into Harris flaws as a batsman on the test scene.Next Vict.shield game could be the key.If there are plans to play Khawaja as a opener for Australia surely he should be opening for Qld. right now.

Complete faith in Sangha and Edwards here
Yep. Neither have turned promise into solid runs, neither inspire confidence. Possibly their last chance this season to finally deliver.

Clever Jon Holland. Sangha was looking good up to that point. This may be over by lunch. Oh woe is the Blues.
