This trend of jumper designs in getting a bit out of hand
This isn't a trend. The Carlton, Adelaide, Freo kits are one-off kits (that Carlton one from 7 years ago lol), the GWS and Essendon ones are clash kits. Gold Coast are the first ones to actually do this to their primary kit.

It’s so annoying because the bones are there. The clash jumper is solid, but it’s a completely different colour scheme than the home. That’s fine, in fact it should be encouraged, but the design itself is far more visible on the clash. If the colours aren’t going to be consistent, surely you keep the design consistent? Especially since the side panel pattern is way cooler than what they used to use, and it’d be fantastic in yellow.

Though it's not my ideal, they could have really gone for something if they'd actually properly embraced and considered the whole two-tone, heat-of-the-sun, magma thing.

The clash top, front the front, looks like its side panel swirls start the front and end the back: like a graduation.

The home though, they just sort sit there with no integration.

I wouldn't have minded a jumper that's sort of like a marbled, lava lamp look of the two reds swirling into one another; like one big gradient.

Ultimately though that would have been, again, lost with the myriad sponsors and other necessary applications. but it still would have been an alright idea.

Still hoping Tassie go for a 'forest green and Apple Aisle' dark and almost lime green look. the two-tone thing has so much potential. would not mind Freo considering a dual purple look to be honest, could add a bit more personality to the purple and white.
Anyone want to take this idea and make it look good

The yellow clash looks like a decent jumper that’s faded in the sun.

The positive is the logo isn’t terrible so they can change the jumpers without it feeling like they’ve backtracked on the rebrand.

Another look at it from the Aunty Donna boys. mark doesn't understand why there is a K : on the jumper.

At this stage I just have to assume they wanted a Norwood type clean jumper and want to be known as the reds. No point focusing on any design elements... from a distance they aren't there.

What will the Fox scorebug look like??

This article just sums up what a shitshow this is. Basically admitting they ignored the fans on this.

Burgess said it was crucial to listen to the fans throughout the rebrand, who she believes had grown tired of the ‘Challenge Accepted’ theme introduced in 2019, as it “no longer represented where we were as a club”.

However, the feedback – particularly from a passionate fan base – might not always be constructive, which Burgess said was a major lesson for the marketing team.

“It’s all subjective – the scale of liking and hating a color or a logo. For me, I have quite a scientific data background, so I really leant into the quantitative research we did around the focus groups and the consulting,” Burgess told host Neil Griffiths.

“So whenever we got straight into murky territory, I could always refer back to that. [The feedback] showed us that most people liked this or didn’t like this. And then Bob East, our chairman, he quite often used to say, ‘You can’t make decision by committee.’ So, there’s no point in canvassing everybody for an opinion. You just need to consult the key stakeholders and then once you’ve made that decision, you back yourself.”

Ah Brewdog, the Tate brothers of beer.

Biggest thing about this jumper is it highlights shit most people wouldn't look twice at. you inspect the 'lxxp/loop' logo, the sponsors, the seams, the entire template.

Kind of impressive how the thing you notice least is the actual jumper; even a plain red jumper wouldn't do it that well.

To be fair, fearless is the right tagline to willingly put out a kit like that. I'm getting more of a soccer vibe from the home kit, because we're used to seeing some kind of jumper element that makes it stand out more (stripes, hoops, sash, a visible monogram) Red all over shouts Liverpool/Adelaide Utd more than Gold Coast, but I kind of welcome this audacious attempt, especially coloured shorts for the alternate/clash. Makes me wonder if Collingwood can wear black shorts for their clash jumper 🤤 Red and yellow should've stayed together in some capacity, perhaps yellow cuffs and collar at least

I fear that Matt Rowell may spontaneously combust wearing this.

Another mockup of changing the light red to the Gold Coast Gold...

Pretty simple change for a pretty good jumper...

I’d have gone full gold side panels so that it’s more in line with the clash, but even this is an infinite amount better than the actual home kit.

Should have copied this. Or KCC colour scheme. Even then pattern would look nice (Bit like the Bulldogs pattern).

What they have chosen is very strange. It's basically a red training top.

Yeah I don't really get the notion that red and yellow is such a horrific colour combo, I've always loved those Calgary Flames uniforms and an 80s Footscray design with the pattern on those sleeves and the Suns logo in the middle or on the breast like other clubs would look great.

I feel like the red would be an interesting/cool idea as a clash, but obviously that wouldn't work, because the alternate is too West Coast to be the primary, so they still wouldn't have a decent main kit.

On those pictures that first circulated with the close up of Anderson and separate photo of Miller kicking, the logo was literally invisible to me on the Miller photo (admittedly I'm colour blind). Did anyone else have that problem? If so, it isn't hard to foresee how this is going to go when they're actually playing, if it's that hard to distinguish on a promo photo.

I'd put the shelf life of this rebrand as somewhere between the new BBQ/Pizza Shapes flavours and the reworking of the Lion on Brisbane's guernsey in the early 2010s. There'll be more colour on this guernsey by 2027, I bet.

Edit: this is the photo I'm talking about.
