On the info provided I'd say 1962. This year was Mantello's last and Steward's first. The other players mentioned would also have been around that year.
I haven't done terribly well on this thread so far, but I think I'm right on this one.

Don't worry K7, I'd have gotten the last question wrong too...and I made it up! I thought the Keith McKenzie was really the answer too, but was looking for a trick answer - John Dugdale in 1976 who coached the side whilst Barassi was away with the state team and had a win in his only game. Slug Jordan did the same in 1977 but lost. When Windsock said it was Schimma I thought, "Oh crap..he's right!!"

One today for those whose are prepared for a little research or have very good memories. I want two games - the last in which North scored at least 5 goals in every quarter and the last in which we couldn't score more than 2 in any quarter.

I could come up with 3 straight off (plus the other 11 above of course:rolleyes:). Not sure if Venner ever played a game. He was on our list for ever.

Apart from Andrew Obst having played for Melbourne throught he 90s these are all right. I'm sure your typing Andrew instead of Alan Obst was purely a typo! ;)

I am pretty good with my North Melbourne players but three of these guys I have never heard of.

Stephen Venner
Mario Turco
Mark O'Donohue

Mario Turco was a recruit from WA late in the Barassi era. IIRC, he came to us as a potential onballer but he was slow and unaware. Might have played 40 to 50 games- mainly servicable at best. #19???

Stephen Venner played several seasons of VFL football (in the late 80s/early 90s???) but never got the chance to play for the senior side. My recollection is he was a pure tap ruckman who rarely took a mark or got a possession around the ground. Never improved with age like big men are supposed to do. #40????

Mark O'Donohue - can't help you I'm afraid.

Turco wore 18 in 1980 and 25 in 1982 but only played 9 games.
Venner played 4 games in 1989 in the illustrious number 50. He;s the first and only North player whose surname starts with V.
O'Donoghue wore 49 in 2 games in 1988.

Turco wore 18 and 35. Carey's and Longmire's numbers and still no good.

Xavier Tanner wore 25 in those years.
