I'm not sure Houston entirely deserves the trust so many want to place in him. He's only a couple of years removed from getting caught doing lines of choof off Ladhams' Peter, and costing us a non-trivial whack of soft cap money in the process.

Wines to be Captain. Houston in the leadership team this year please, he's a solid player, signed a long term contract with zero media speculation or fanfare, speaks well and I love the way he gets in the face of and niggles opponents (particularly Tex/Sloane). It's going to be interesting what happens in the future with Rozee and Duursma both have great leadership qualities and hopefully both committed to the club which is why it might be better to leave them alone for awhile until they mature they're only 22 - an over 25 player possibly better for the leadership team.

Willem Drew?

If he can add a bit more attack to his game would make a great onfield leader I reckon, don't know about the off field stuff or personality of the guy, but comes across a bit Cotchiny onfield.

Does Drew have enough pace to develop his attacking game? Or is that because of Hinkley.. reckon he plays more similarly to Ling than Cotch. I recall Cotch at same age be able to burst from clearances and get on the outside a bit more.

If we get in Dunkley, and Butters and Rozee progress, Drew might not be best 22.

Thats hurt us before when TJ has had form slumps but still must be picked as captain.

I want a guarantee they play.

Wines, Burton, Boak now.
Butters in the future.

Right now Wines and Burton could be our next captain
I can see in a couple of year Rozee Butters Duursma and Marshall being in the leadership team
Jonas and DBJ should be removed next season

So the options outside of wines are one of our young guns, there isn’t really an obvious stand out whose played 100+ games. Says a fair bit about the list atm

Just my personal opinion. At 22-23 entering their 5th seasons they are young but about to enter their prime and it might be good to get some fresh air in the leadership group. Their are other options In the 24-28 bracket that could enter the equation too, burton, Houston, dbj is already in the leadership group, potentially Dunkley.

Plus Jonas and Boak will remain strong leaders without the title.

To be fair though none of us know the leadership qualities shown by individual players behind the scenes, we make judgements based on how they play or how they portray themselves in the media. Which makes calls like Jonas and dbj are terrible leaders a bit silly really, as we really have no flipping idea.

We all know it will be Wines. Probably this preseason. Rozee has to be put into the leadership group, or even become VC. Yes he is a great player, but he does a lot of directing of play while on-field, and shooows leadership out there. I dont see to much that from Houston or Burton, and not from Duursma as yet.

Rozee legit needed to be told to pull his finger out by the leader's group not even 6 months ago

He will be a leader, but in he Hinkley era3-5 man leadership group he isn't there yet
