Woite lost me when he dumped us to play for Glenelg

He ripped them off in reality - he was gone as a top line footballer - knees shot.

I think you should congratulate him really.:D He screwed them off-field as well as on-field.

He took Geoff Blethyn with him.

It was terrible when Bucky was talking about shifting to the Bays in the early '80's

Blethyn was a washed up Vic chasing money - still a good SNAFL player though.

Bucky didn't go in the end - brinkmanship for contract values.

Someone with a vested interest in a new stadium signing his club up to a bad deal that suited his own interests and not the club's, eh? Good thing our club would never put themselves in a position where that would be popular.

The last thing you guys need is unpopular ex politicians running your club. Why would you want to have anyone who risks alienating potential supporters. Its time you guys backed away from choosing a Port person who will stick it up em attitude, you need to encourage people not put them off.

Russell or Pickard.
Media people with connections and a love for their club have worked well at Collingwood and Nth Melbourne, but I have no idea about his non football background.
Pickard will get the books to balance at the very least but having a major sponsor as president failed at Melbourne, so I voted for Russell.

Yeah, just look at the dreadful mess Collingwood and Hawthorn currently find themselves in by going that direction.

They are both clubs with massive support, apples and oranges. You need to attract supporters not give them another reason to dislike you.

The same Hawthorn that was attracting 15k crowds only 6-7 years ago. Unless you're going to buy a membership next year we don't really care what your type think.

Whoever it is he needs to have:

1. Plenty of personal wealth
2. PAFC in his veins
3. Business accumen
4. Corporate contacts
5. Media contacts
6. Charisma and media presence
7. Cajones

Do any listed have all of these?

Have Bickley and Trigg signed off on the 5 year deal yet?

You are right, all is fine, you should go ahead and choose ex unpopular politicians to build your club back up.

As for posting on each others board, I wasnt trolling, if you want to be so insecure that only Port opinions matter then enjoy your board.

Maybe Rob Lucas could answer that for you.

Throwing your skirt over your head only reinforces what Rory said.

If you want to be a big girl's blouse, do it elsewhere.

If you want to post here, do so respectfully, forget the sarcasm and remember your manners.

I still think Brett Duncanson has a lot to offer. He is a new president and has walked into a very challenging position.

At the moment we need stability and he is a strong leader.

People need to stop believing the media hype.

Brett may come across as someone who says the right things and what people want to hear but he is trying to be positive and the year we have had I think he has held himself very well. He has walked into a very tough gig and I believe has handled himself admirably. The thing is with us PAFC supporters we jump to conclusions but anyone here for a moment put yourself in Brett's shoes and what he has had to go through. I would list them all but I am sure you know them all but you will not find a more passionate PAFC man than Brett.

Any president, chief or anyone in high position at the PAFC would cop a lot of flack at present but off-field the heirachy has performed admirably. With AO, the AFL securing our future, a new football department let's look forward to 2012, it's not like we could have changed things with six weeks out from end of season with restrictions over our heads. Brett and other board members have been working abnormal hours to try and consolidate the club, on-field it is out of their grasp but besides what you read in the media these guys have been putting in their own time and only care about making the PAFC a better and more successful club. They are Port Adelaide through and through and we need to keep the Port Adelaide people in Power at the moment.
We have had multiple changes this year, let's see how these professionals perform with the new additions over the next 12 months before jumping to conclusions.
Off-field has been very positive this year, it is on-field where we should be making suggestions for the benefit of the club.
At the moment it is players letting us down, I still believe in our list and there is a big future but things take time. At the moment this clubs needs positivity, it needs it's fans, it's die hard supporters, the one's who have fallen off the planet, the one's who make excuses that it is too expensive to go to a game and the ones who are in denial that don't know who Port Adelaide are until they are winning and want a GF ticket for peanuts when the time arises although they won't stick out the tough times..

Supporters from the 80's, 90's, 00's, where are you? You have been spoilt for so long, when times get tough you cannot just walk away.... The club is in a position right now where it needs your help, in 4 years time you will jump back on and be begging for a GF ticket but the best way to appreciate it is stick in for the journey and you will appreciate it ten times more..
Port has been down a lot of times over the last 140 years, only in small periods but if you are a true supporter you would be there for the highs and the lows.. Just be thankful you barrack for a great club that by far has many more highs thans lows, and when everyone is against us at this moment it is up to you to stand up and show who you are and who you love.

Where does this "be less Port and more like a big bowl of vanilla ice-cream" misnomer come from?

Being a good citizen in the wake of the 1990 fiasco resulted in the club being cleft in two for no good reason, a comical father-son rule that denies us the sons of Mark Williams, Scott Hodges and Paul Northeast and a stadium deal that would still be bleeding us white if we averaged 27000 at the gate.

In the last few years with Haysman banging the drum we've engineered OneClub, secured much-needed investment from the AFL for both clubs and returned football to the city where it belongs.

The last thing we need is to join Steven Trigg and Rob Chapman in seeing who can whisper the loudest.

Eddie and Jeff get people to rally behind their clubs by being unashamedly proud and unafraid to knock a few noses out of joint to further the interests of their club. They aren't afraid to make hard calls and demand the best for their clubs.

Why we would want an anonymous wallflower over a person like that I have no idea.

Foley would be terrific, as would Rann.

Rann would be as tough as mashed potato.

Foley leaving politics 20th October apparently - Press conference later today.
