I know you blokes would know better about Motlop but would it be worth slotting him in a position where he can find the ball more often rather than FF of the bench, it may throw im into some form once he starts touchin the footy???? I watched fair bit of the game today n if port has been playing like that i dont see how hes gona get any delivery to him really but thats comin from a melbourne suppotert wat do u all think?

Davy that was suggested in these pages last week, and he played much of yesterday's "game" in defence. When the opposition pots 25 you would expect that to be somewhere where he could find the ball more often, but he didn't.

It could just be confidence - personally I thought he played well against St Kilda but even then looked to be down on himself - he missed a few gettable goals from memory (ahhh, our last win, but already faded into the distant past). Needs a run in the SANFL but if he plays this week then put him on the ball and let him get some touches.

2K 1H 2M 5HO isn't really recall material
Yeah, doesn't matter.

and Broges is back next week
Run him with South for a week. He came back unfit last time, lets not do that again.

B: Michael Wilson, Darryl Wakelin, Ryan Willits
HB: Adam Kingsley, Troy Chaplin, Nathan Lonie
C: Steven Salopek, Chad Cornes, Kane Cornes
HF: Danyle Pearce, Damon White, Peter Burgoyne
F: Michael Pettigrew, Warren Tredrea, Jacob Surjan
1R: Brendon Lade, Shaun Burgoyne, Adam Thomson
INT: Matt Thomas, Fabian Deluca, Toby Thurstans, Josh Mahoney
EMER: Stuart Dew, Brett Ebert, Matthew Bishop

IN: Willits, Chaplin, Thomson, Thomas, Deluca

OUT: Cassisi, Walsh (injured), Motlop, Bishop, Dew (omitted)

NEW: Ryan Willits (Northern Knights), 19
Matt Thomas (Sandringham Dragons), 19

Kept out because they have just come back from injury:

Dean Brogan

Brad Symes

Thomas has to come in, i think we should try him as a midfielder. :thumbsu:

I take it your not an advocate of having a player attain a certain level in the SANFL before playing them in the AFL (barring exceptional circumstances injury/reports).

And I will clarify that I am speaking specifically about DeLuca.

Will Cassisi definately miss with injury?

It doesn't matter at the moment who gets dropped this week as if the players continue to play as individuals they won't win. For a bit of leadership quality look at the article below from todays tiser.

Lions win as a team
By ANDREW HAMILTON
15may06

THE Lions drew a line in the sand against the Hawks at Carrara on Saturday night and declared the blueprint to reverse their season was a resolve to play for each other - and that includes axed star Jason Akermanis.

Jonathan Brown said dented pride, not the circumstances surrounding Akermanis's demotion, was the catalyst for the team-oriented approach that led to the 40-point victory over Hawthorn.

"We really had to draw the line," he said.

"At one and five we were running out of opportunities."

Akermanis made an emphatic bid for a recall to take on Port Adelaide on Sunday with a five-goal effort in the reserves.

"It was a real positive. That's all he can do," Brown said.

"Aker's an important member of our side and it's good to see him get some touch and play some good footy."

^
Now if Warren & the rest of the leadership group would pledge the same sort of commitment to each other we wouldn't be in the position that we're at the moment as eveyone knows when our players decide to play as a team we're capable of beating just about any side eg St Kilda, Swans games this year.
Notice the key word of team is used several times in that article.

Add Tredrea to the list. His not at all fit and not showing the least of onfield leadership.
He just seems to be struggling to get involved, maybe a move to CHB would see him getting more involved with the play; then hopefully that will fast forward his return to something like the form everyone knows he has.

Injury list
Brad Symes, appendicitis (Round 6) – available
Peter Walsh, corked thigh (Round 7) – available
Dean Brogan, collapsed lung / broken rib (Round 4) – test

Gavin Wanganeen, calf (5.5.06 training) – test
Josh Francou, adductor (SANFL Round 6) – 1 week
Dom Cassisi, knee, medial ligament (Round 7) – 3-4 weeks

Broges was saying yesterday he could've played but the fitness staff thought he should have a second week of training first, Symes should be ok to come back for Dom

My squad of 25 would be

White, Thurstans, Lade, C.Cornes, K.Cornes, P.Burgoyne, S.Burgoyne, Pearce, Salopek, Lower, Thomas, Thomson, Wakelin, Chaplin, Mahoney, Deluca, Walsh, Wilson, Symes, Bishop, Surjan, Pettigrew, Ebert, Tredrea,

In - Lower, Thomas, Thomson, Chaplin, Deluca, Symes, Ebert

Out -
Dew (dropped)
Motlop (dropped)
Cassisi (inj)

OUT: Walsh (injury), Cassisi (injury/form), Wilson (his body is not yet up to it and may never be again), Motlop (form), Dew (form), Tredrea (injury?/form), Bishop (form), Lonie (no heart)
IN: Thomson, Willits, Deluca, Chaplin, Symes, Eckermann, Lower (who I know nothing about but hear he may get a crack). Not sure if Ebert should take anyone's spot. This guy should be fighting for his career but isn't.

Edit
Whoops, named Symes twice. This isn't the 'clone' thread.

Don't think so, he's been in the reserves. Chocco hinted that Lower may make his debut... so my Ins and outs.

IN: Thomas, Lower, Chaplin, Brogan, Symes
OUT: Tredrea, Motlop, Dew, Cassisi, Walsh

Lucky to be in: Bishop, Lonie, Wilson, Kingsley, Brogan (Cos of injury)
Unlucky not to be in: Thomson, Deluca, Willits, Ebert

Elijah Ware was listed as an emergency last week.

If Motlop goes, he would probably be the preference to replace him due to his good form in the SANFL of late.

Has potential to be a great player at AFL level.

Does anybody know how long Brogan is out for???????
The thing is thanks to a career best performance from Lade the ruck area is one of the few parts of our game holding up. Broges return would enable us to have him help down back, or Lade to move up forward, but really won't change our performance at all.
