Re: nfl div2 reserves

mernda have a reputation of stacking there 2nds

yes but reputations are based on on history and historically they have not had to worry about being in third division if they drop one more game than they should between now and the end of the season.

there is a huge difference this year between 8th and 9th - even Mernda would not sacrifice that for their seconds who have done pretty well without the stacking

I am not saying the odd player wont manage their number of games - but as a general club decision I dont think they can afford to risk it this year

Re: nfl div2 reserves

how r the pingers looking for tomorrow's big game against the bears, r they going 2 b at full strentgh, they have a few guys who r up there in the goalkicking they will no doubt take some stopping

Re: nfl div2 reserves

looks like the bears still have some tricks up there sleaves good win against the top team

The boys were not at full strength but that is taking nothing away from the TTown boys - like the seniors against Hurstbridge one team turned up to play and the other didnt (with exceptions of course).

Hopefully it stung enough to get the boys back on track - I know a lot of them were hurting and are determined not to let it happen again.

Re: nfl div2 reserves

The smokey will be the eagles in the reserves, lots of depth and some handy players not getting a game in the seniors. Will know more after this weekend though when they face Mernda at home, only lost by 20 points last time they met at mernda after they were up by 10 pionts half way through the last. Still anyones though.

Re: nfl div2 reserves

As predicted I watched the Eagles have a great win over Mernda on the weekend, Parkside next then the big test against Lower.

....Bugden for president....

Re: nfl div2 reserves

Mernda will come good at the pointy end of the season..... Struggling with form and injuries at the moment. 3 of the easier sides to finish off the year will hopefully stitch up a top 2 finish although we have made it very hard for ourselves.... I got towelled up by a 40 yr old on the weekend although he had a foot height over me:D

Re: nfl div2 reserves

What will the final six be this year? South Morang and Hurstbridge to fight it out for last spot? Hurstbridge seem to be finding form over the last couple of weeks and Morang dropped one against the stars
Morang are on 9 wins and have Epping, Hursty & Lower
Hursty are on 8 wins and have Ressa, Morang & Mernda

Looking at the ladders you wouldn't expect Morang to beat Epping or Lower.
I don't think Hursty will beat Mernda, but they should beat Ressa this weekend.

It'll come down to whoever wins in round 17 when they play each other. Should be a cracker of a match.

Re: nfl div2 reserves

which ever 1 of those teams make it will lose in the 1st round of the finals anyway.... the eagles will b the 1st team 2 make the grand final, and it will b out of epping thomo or mernda to play them

Re: nfl div2 reserves

Don't Rate Lower Plenty??

2 weeks time eagles play lower at home, should be a fairly good standard with some quality players running around in both two's teams. Eagles lost to lower by 25 last time they met but should be a turn around if the eagles play at thier best.

Re: nfl div2 reserves

2nd vs 3rd this week. Should be a cracker. Monger and waddles playing for lower, will be very hard to beat. Seeing as lower are now 7th in the seniors it will be inteesting to see if thay stack the 2's or put there best 22 in the seniors to try and win and get back in the 6. Big in for whittlesea though, very big in weight wise that is..............:p:D

Dont think lower can stack em too much they wont wanna go to divvy 3 and they wouldnt belong there

Re: nfl div2 reserves

Im an old 2's player from way back and this forum makes for very interesting reading, though I doubt it would get many hits. I have spent most of this season watching Macleod and our 2's are struggling. Speaking with our Magoo's captain he says that Whittlesea should be the hottest of favourites for the flag this year but Epping, Mernda, Lower and Thomastown will be fighting it out with them.

The best Reserves side makes for interesting debate, though you would have to put a criteria in place (such as a maximum amount of senior games and a minimum amount of Reserves games). I imagine the bulk of the team would come from Whittlesesa, Mernda, Epping, Thomastown and Lower. Did anyone end up having a crack at putting in their best 22? On this year alone, Mclaughlin from Lower would get a run at full forward, along side Sturart Fraser from Morang. Colaci from Thomastown on a flank (based on goals alone). I don't know the 2's players from other teams well enough to suggest others. Anyone care to contribute?

From morang Fraser for sure then you could build a case for Bodycoat and Stewart. Not sure about other teams.
