Simon was 20 and 2 weeks when he flayed in the Crows' first AFL game. I would think he could have played 200 or 150 or whatever the SANFL rule was. Had so many injuries in his time at the Crows too, so wouldn't have played many SANFL then.
I was just curious thats all, I saw that he played over 100 games for Port, but I presume that was after his career with the AFC.

Caleb Tregenza any good?.. anyone seen him play?..

Only 15..

My local club has played against him a few times.

Athletic, smart, skilful by foot (looks better than his Dad!). Certainly has some talent.

Just small in stature/frame atm which makes him an outside type player but obviously that may change with physical development.

What position do you think he may become if he makes it to the AFL?

needed what, 200 games for Port pre 1997?

Doubt it.

Of course. Had to be before 1990
Before entering the league

So for Adelaide it's 1990, but for Port it's 1996, Freo 1994, West Coast 1986.

Though, iirc, it's 200 for us/port, but only 150 for freo/west coast

I still can't get the Cornes one. 317 games for Glenelg. 47 for South Adelaide. Archimedes couldn't solve this mathematical equation.
From memory the SANFL F/S rule was brought in after Chad and Kane?

Could have gotten them if Graham had coached one more year under the rules when they were drafted.

This was on Wiki so probably inaccurate. PA had 6 clubs to pick from. As a Woodville and WTFC person I resent any association with PA.
That 1997 mention to PA cannot be correct. I'm thinking Borlase not being eligible for them.

so basically we got screwed again, I guess this was where the pattern of bending over for the AFL was started

This was the rule, but it wasn't as at 1999/2000

We had some savvy administrators when we started, and I thought we would have tried to screw the AFL to the max. We must have thought F/S not important. In the Chapman/Trigg era we just became social animals and didn't want to upset the applecart.

The Cornes brothers not counting as father/sons feels like a real sliding doors moment
Surely they did. Conrsey played over 300 games for Glenelg before 1990. I think the period is 20 years. So 1970-90. Cornsey played from 1967-1982 so three years didnt count. Plus back then they counted pre season games and escort cup games in the totals which dont count to the father son figures. So must have brought him below 200 between 1970 and 1982

Graham played way over 200 games. So should have had both Cornes boys. Did the father son not exist at that time
Back then they had to have played the 200 games in a 20-year window, between 1971-1990. A fair chunk of Cornes' games were pre-1971, and he also spent 1979 playing for North Melbourne. His 317 games with Glenelg probably also includes a fair number of Escort Cup games, which we all (now) know are not counted by the AFL.

The 20-year window was removed as a result of the review the AFL did, after the Gibbs debacle. The rule change was referred to as the "Grandfather Rule", as most of the players who became newly eligible were so old that they were more likely to have grandsons of draftable age.

The Cornes sons would be eligible under the post-Gibbs rule update, but were not eligible under the original rules.
