Mega Thread Nick Daicos - Can he be the GOAT? Part 2

Funny thing is he barely got tagged at all the first half of 2024. David King was son First Crack every week going berserk that coaches were letting him run free.

He was burning off and outsmarting run-withs. He entered the year as an outside mid and thus teams weren't worried about him at stoppage, but they did try to play a run with on him - easier said than done. Once he started to become dominant at stoppage, teams had to go a hard tag at stoppage too as well as trying to run with him. Good taggers can quieten him at stoppage, but it'll still help the Pies as we'll be able to dictate stoppage positioning - need Jordy back to really cash in on that.

Callaghan has had a very strong start to the season, and I love watching him play.

Both the same age, and Daicos has been regarded as the best player in the game for the past two seasons, whilst Callaghan was outside every top 50 list published at the start of the season.

Let's see where they rank come year's end.
You really are delusional.

The little cramper was taken to the cleaners by another little player called Bedford.

The same tagger went to Petracca a week later and he was too small to stop a player who hadn't played for 9 months.

I know the media drool about Squibby but don't put him in the same league as some of the best big bodied mids running around in this competition.

'Taken to the cleaners', with Daicos having a 17 possession first half before being immobile in the second half.

Yep, likely no Brownlow votes in his first two games.

Let's take the title of the game's best player off him.

But who has overtaken him in that time?
It was such an even team performance who knows who they should give votes to against Port - I won't be surprised if they do what they usually do when in doubt and default to the champion. I don't think it's a bad thing either that the bloke who disrupts the oppostion system and structures the most by getting a hard tag gets the benefit of the doubt when their offensive output is on par with those around them.
